What does everyone think their Hellcats can do in the 1/2 mile or the 1 mile?

Read somewhere that it takes about 2 miles to reach top speed.

There is a video online somewhere, and it was somebody testing one for speed capability, and I believe after one mile he had hit 178mph in the Challenger Hellcat, but I also heard it takes a couple more miles after that for it to hit two hundred; acceleration slows significantly due to the major wind resistance, and more road is covered in shorter time due to the high velocity.

We are really going to be in rarefied air at these speeds and not too many cars,

I mean ANY production cars that can touch these speeds.

Going to be alot grumbling car owners, Corvettes, GTR's, Mustang gt500's, well i could go on.

I think 150-155 for 1/2 mile and 175 to 180 for the mile.

As best I can figure our cars top out in 6th gear

I wish I was as computer literate as you!

Yes that is the video i saw and the confirmation that not only do i need this car,

but where can i reach those speeds?

As i said before that driver left a little speed on the table by taking off in second gear

I couldn't resist getting into my car a bit today and I have to say, no GTR owner is grumbling over the hellcat. I had my GTR (stock) up to 151 the other day in a period of time that I'm sure no stock hellcat can do. The GTR just hooks up like nothing I've ever driven. I scares the shite out of anyone I've ever had in it.

The hellcat is way more fun to drive because of its sheer brute and sound but no way does it hook up like the Nissan's AWD. The Nissan is almost boring to drive it's so predictable. But sick fast.

I have only been in one GTR, the original year which i think was 2008, could be wrong with that.

Again only internet racing here . GTR was very imressive with sequenced launch control, obviously it has 4 wheel drive
    .
But from a roll, where traction isn't such a limiting factor.

I think these Hellcats will match or slightly beat a GTR. IMO @ least the first year.

We do the Know the top speed is quite impressive for both cars with edge to the Hellcat.

But there is nothing like Acceleration

    Acceleration nation

And that's why I've never bought a GTR, because I read that exact same thing, that the computer controls take all the fun out of it, make it almost boring...same reason why I wouldn't buy a Tesla. Let ME drive it, let me handle the horsepower. And as far as a Tesla, this will ultimately be the pinnacle of performance...at least until they mass produce fusion powered cars. Electric motors = instant torque. But I don't want to drive a car that has an engine that I can't hear...and feel. I want ALL of my senses involved, that's the experience, the sight, sound, feel, smell, (I'm not going to lick it, so no 'taste'...well, maybe I might) of a rumbly V8, add a supercharger or turbo whine. Yes, that's it. And another reason whey I haven't bought a Viper. Love the look...but hate the sound. There will be HC's that will outrun GTR's once they get some decent tires and drivers with lots of seat time or experience and the ride will be so much more fun (and better looking), and it may require cracking the ECM to increase HP to compensate for the GTR's AWD, but it will happen eventually (ever watched a video of a 1000rwhp Supra street racing?). And an AWD HC would be the bomb, but that will never happen. I remember when GMC had the Cyclones and Typhoons...I started to build one of those, AWD and sick hp = fun.

But I'll take the HC all day every day. I like the brute force, the 'on the edge' of control. I will never own a driver-less car, but might borrow one for nights that I want to bar-hop, because I actually enjoy the experience of driving. I don't want a computer taking over. I enjoy the experience between point A and point B.

I'm going to guess we will need 3-4 miles to approach 200 and then be able to brake after. One mile was 174 mph. Speed after that mile climbs slowly as you overcome wind resistance, and the fact that you are covering over 255 feet per second at the one mile mark, almost a football field every second. We need to take one to the Salt Lakes, where the land speed records are set. Nice and flat, no tree's or other things to crash into.

Thanks for the info on wannagofast.

Never heard of it before and sounds like a great idea.

Want to contact them for a northeast run.

I can't wait to get my Hellcat, but the 2009 GTR I sold this summer was too fast but it was not stock. It had over 800 rwhp at full boost. I will say being predicable with that much horsepower is not a bad thing.
