So yesterday I tried to swap my '16 White Challenger HC (3000 miles) for a new '16 PCP Challenger HC at Bob Baker Dodge in Carlsbad, CA. (Yeah, I've loved PCP since day one but settled on BW).

The sales manager insisted my used (although stock and not a mark on it) '16 HC was only worth $58k. Really? I assumed worth more than that based on what I've seen around the internet?? As such, there was no deal since I still owed $69k on mine. Bummer......

Did they ask you to bend over?...58K is super low but I doubt any dealer is going to get close to the $69K you owe..

    Not even a reach around!!

Yes, I thought super low as well. I didn't expect $69k, but at least within $5-$6k.

I feel your pain Jury-but he is giving you a reality check-new ones are going for MSRP at best-some dealers are selling at invoice even. He has to be in your car at a number that lets him have an edge over new. He would ask $65k and take $62-63 and probably have to over allow on the next guys trade...what was the price on the PCP? Difference figure? My car is white and I love it but the impact colors bring more $. Give them a few days and go back towards end of the month and they will probably sweeten the deal-but hard to get around $9-11k negative equity-unless you have rockstar credit and/or some strong cash down. At this point the manual really is a deduct-if your car was Auto probably $3k more value at least. Best bet is wait a while, maybe a year even, pay the balance down and pick up a used PCP auto when you're in a better position-or let the fever pass...

Jettster--I knew I was going in expecting higher than reality, but not quite that diff. They were asking $70k for the PCP (auto).

Right so at $70k for a new PCP auto if you were a customer and I showed you the white used for $65k you would probably buy new unless you didn't dig PCP. at $62k that might make the deal.
You would probably say to yourself-shoot for $5k I'll just go new...that's the rub-plus the trans-I came from a PCP 2010 M6 SRT8 so I can def feel your pain-but after 3.5 years I was ready for a change and my fever was for hellcat period and auto A8-plus now I am a little bit under the radar...you still have an awesome machine that 99% of folks can only dream about!

I was assuming yours was an auto...$58K for a M6 is not that far off...new HC M6s are selling at dealer invoice...my dealer has a 2016 White M6 for almost $2K under MSRP...and that could be negotiated down some..

Don't get me wrong--I LOVE my car. Just wanted to get into PCP. Still a happy HC owner!

I kinda figured it was a stick by the offer. The autos will always be worth more. Was still pretty low but like Jet said, there has to be an incentive for a buyer not to go new when that car is sitting on a lot. And its going to be price.
Its why i always throw a chunk of cash down when i buy one so that im totally safe if i want to be stupid and trade it back in lol. Speaking only for myself, trust me lol. You typically lose about 10k out of the gate so you'd better have at least that down initially to get ur car to at least pay for itself in the event of wanting to trade it within the first year or so. And thats if you didnt pay over msrp to start with.

I was offered $55k for my 2015 Sublime A8 Challenger with a sticker of $63k - I'm at 15k miles. This was 2 weeks ago...

I thought my trade in was pretty good considering what I paid. FYI

Not to insight a riot, but I flipped my 2015, M6 with 9500 miles at the dealership for a 2016, M6, sunroof, matte hood and got $62K...that was in March.
