Going to change from the stock to a 180 thermostat. My question is which one?? We only have a few choices like Mishimoto for $53., HHP has one of theirs for $29., then if you can find one there are the cheapies. Has anyone had experience that shows that the Mishimoto is that much better than others? I don't mind spending but don't wasting either.

I don't know about brand differences, but I'm curious if they are any good without a tune.

I think you would benefit a lot more from having a tune that takes into account the lower T-Stat.....the tune can adjust when the cooling fans turn on....to maximize the lower temp t-stat and perhaps alter parameters for a CEL....that might be triggered from the lower temps.

I've wondered the same thing. From what I've gathered.....the $29 one and the Mishimoto are the same. The only difference....the $29 doesn't have the packaging that the Mishimoto does. I think the one below the $29 unit might be of different manufacture. I'm going to put my money on the HHP $29 T-Stat.

So, don't bother putting one in until I get the tune or it simply won't be as effective?

Waste of $$ unless you use a tuner to adjust the fan settings. The coolant will still get to OEM temp when driving in stop and go traffic on a warm day...

Roger that. Got one as a present but will stand by to get a few more upgrades worthy of a tune before I installing it. Thanks!

Thanks for all the comments....I know I have to have tune before thermostat is effective but just wondered about the differences between different brands/prices.

I looked up a T-stat (185) for my 04 Ram 5.7. Fits perfect in my HC, car runs 185 while your running down the road, no CEL.

I typically recommend the Mishimoto over our HHP house brand motorad thermostat for the Hellcats. Both will work fine but the Mishimoto seems to allow for more flow once open and customers who have used both report that the Mishimoto runs cooler in other boosted Hemi applications and they comparatively have a lower failure rate, too.

Clarified it right there.... Many thanks for the info. Much better than comparing pictures and what's written in descriptions.
