Spoke to the manager at a local Dodge Dealership today and he talked a bout the new Cuda convertible at the recent Dealer convention. He said some interesting things and if half of what he said is true it will be one nice car. I have no reason not to believe him but time will tell.

Rumors of a 'Cuda return have been internet scuttle for years, so far, only thing anyone has seen from dodge/FCA are concept cars, the blue one below being the latest from this year, the green one being a viper/70 cuda hybrid a year or two ago.

Thanks for the pics, SuperChallenger! That blue one looks like the bastard child of a newer Camaro (rear section) and an early 70's Mustang (when they stretched out the nose). Not feelin' it.

Really hope they do something cool with a Cuda. Such an opportunity to honor the name and set the musclecar world on fire!

Note the Chrysler star (pentagram) wheel hubs.

I could begin to like the green one (in Blue). Many Viper similar looks, and it just looks like it could rule the world with larger tires and the Hellcat motor.

    why?

they have more years into the Challenger run to go.....why kill sales off with 1-2 years to go....i get it for 2019...but not 2017....

i dont think they will have to muscle cars at once that compete with each other

(the charger is a family car)

i can see them doing it as a hard top just to sell more cars...tons of 15/16 guys would swap to a Cuda HC for the more aggressive styling....and the hood is pretty much a Cuda already

doing a convertible off the current challenger platform thats been around since 2008? cant see it...if they were going to do it they would have in 2009....to do it for 1-2 years...cant see it

i do think its realistic to see a new front/back end on the challenger and call it a Cuda....it would sell cars and keep this 2008 body style going another couple of years....amazing its been 9 years pretty much exactly the same car

Its going to be a shared platform that was stated above Alpha. It appears to be a Challenger had a baby with a dart size. A lot of peeps think it will be challenger with different front and rear ends.. not even close. Also the one at Vegas did not have a hellcat motor in it. Going to be a lot of disappointed fans of the cuda' when it comes out.

My gut tells me that I agree with you huggytree, but with a slight caveat. The Hellcats notwithstanding, I believe if the cuda happens the front and rear sheet metal will be as you've suggested and they will super high tech the cabin and controls beyond the hellcat. Tech, by then in my estimate, will capture more buyers than a v6 or a v8. The EPA will have their day...trust me, I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch.

True... but why mess with what is working and increasing in popularity. The Challenger is the only model that has increased in sales 8 years in a row.
