Jeep Grand Cherokee is currently the bestselling vehicle to wear it. FCA isn’t about to shut down its hot-rod-Jeep money mint, so the hi-po Grand Cherokee will now be known as the Trackhawk.

Mercedes-Benz M-class, making it one of the few good things to come out of the disastrous DaimlerChrysler tie-up.

supercharged Hellcat V-8 would eventually find its way into a few more engine bays. Paired with four-wheel drive, the 6.2-liter’s 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque could help the Grand Cherokee breach 60 mph in less than four seconds. Base 475-hp Trackhawk models will come with the naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V-8 that is used in today’s Grand Cherokee SRT.

BMW X5 M; Land Rover’s new highest-performance model, the Range Rover Sport SVR; Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG; Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

What Might Go Wrong
We hear that Jeep is struggling to blast-proof the Grand Cherokee’s driveline against Hellcat torque bombs. There are two obvious work-arounds: Engineers could electronically limit torque in lower gears or, less likely, just skip four-wheel drive.

Estimated Arrival and Price
Look for the first $65,000 Grand Cherokee Trackhawks at Costcos, gas stations, drag strips, and meetings of the South Jersey mafia starting in mid-2016.

While this is interesting, I'm not sure it will happen. The awd drivetrain just can't handle the power. I am certain it won't be 65000 considering the current non supercharged jeep is 71-75k....that said I wonder if my wife would believe me if I told her it was a good winter ride?

A four wheel drive burn out would be awesome.
Would it be the most powerful four wheel drive on the market ????

Drivetrain concerns are a constant with Chrysler these days. Have you seen the drive shaft pics for some of the challengers? With the awd's ability to grip it could make the problem worse. I hope they do figure it out, the track hawk would be almost unbeatable on the street where launching is 80% of the battle! but the expense of a "bulletproof" drivetrain with a warranty might prove too expensive. The other side of the argument is we do make a trail ready rubicon with lockers so fingers crossed.....

Yes I'm aware of the driveshafts.

I've thought about it a lot, if they did the Jeep would it be at the full 707 or would they tune it down some, say neighborhood of 650hp? Hell, even at 650 it'd be a beast!

I just want to see the supercharged 6.2 in the Jeep....man oh man that's just awesome!

Old article / news, not real. No Trackhawk until at least 2018 on next gen Grand Cherokee.
