    Hi All,

I know it's a bit early, but I've been bugging the hell out of the local (Australian) rep over whether or not the current model Charger will make it over here in RHD.

I heard a rumour that the 2018 model WILL be made in RHD from the factory, but have not yet been able to see an 'accurate' rendering of what it will look like.

If there are any ITKs that have a pic, I'd love to see it. That way, I can decide whether to hold out for the 2018 model or try to arrange purchase of a current (used) model and get it converted. Assuming of course FCAA don't decide to bring it out here in RHD, but I'm not holding my breath.

There have been a few threads here speculating that there may not be any HC's produced after '17 due to tightening regulatory emissions standards here in the US. Haven't read anything official from FCA.

Doubt there will be a RWD Charger due to the cost associated with crash worthiness testing. This was mentioned in a previous thread as the primary reason why the MY15 HC Charger wasn't released with RWD.

Although on a separate note, my dealer has indicated the MY18 Challenger HC will be released as a ltd. edition with a wide body kit... too early to tell so we'll just have to wait and see as anything can happen between now and then.

BTW, I think you mean RHD (right hand drive) .. not RWD (rear wheel drive) .. Otherwise your post would imply Hellcats are FWD or AWD ... FYI, these TLA's (three letter acronyms) will drive us all nuts, LOL.

    -----------------------------------------

Now, as to rumors of no Hellcat in 2018. I think the fact that Ford will be releasing a twin-turbo v8 GT500 at 700+ HP in 2017 squashes that. (They would not do that much research for just one year). So Dodge will not just hand over the crown to Ford and be a no show after the Hellcat legacy they created in the last few years.

dont think anyone here will be able to answer your question unless Ralph is here and wants to give info 2 years from now when right now people cant even get a pic of a color thats available in a month/two.....

i think you will find out in 2018 and not 1 day before

I would say the chances are very unlikely. The 2018 model year is currently scheduled to be the last of the "LD" generation. The all-new "LF" models are set for the 2019 model year, too early for very many details.

Yeah, I think you're right...had RWD on my mind, thanks. I'd venture a guess and say the market for RHD variants will not justify the cost to develop a production intent solution.

I found this, probably nothing like what will be coming off the production line, though:

I do, because it decides whether or not I can get a Hellcat.

Ten years is a very long time for a car to be built without a major body change. 18 would be the 10 year mark.

I hope that things only get better for us car junkies.........

I think it's likely a 2018 model would be shown at one of the 2017 auto shows, like Detroit that happens each January. Since that show starts next week here, I'm curious too to hear if there are any announcements of a MY 17 ZL1 or GT500 that people seem to be so confident are coming.
