What can I expect to get at 500 miles? Conflicting reports on what becomes available after the factory setting increase at 500 miles. Launch control? More
    Horsepower? Exhaust valves operation?

    Thanks for your input

Geez, I figured you were well past 500 miles by now! I am plotting my course home from pick up to get me over 350 miles the first day. o_O

That's an excellent question and one that I'm looking forward to some technical responses myself.
At this time I have about 65 miles on the car and was told it was important to vary the speed/RPM during the 500 mile break in period as opposed to a constant RPM. So far I have giving the car a brief 1/3 throttle hit and it was INCREDIBLE, so can't wait to accumulate 500 miles and enjoy a full throttle blast. By the way, my wife was in the car during the 1/3 throttle hit and she SCREAMED ---- at that point I knew I bought the right car !!!

i think the performance pages give you timers at that point. Maybe launch too. I don't think there's any major differences. But hey, enjoy the car I'm just at 1,100.

Launch control. Otherwise if you want you can blow it up and smoke em coming right out of the dealer.

Who needs launch control? Two feet brake torque with an automatic is much more fun.

Break-ins are for pussies. Drive it like you stole it and don't look back.

My Shelby had a feature where you couldn't go over 4k rpm for the first 50 miles. It was meant to keep delivery people from beating on it. Not so with the Hellcat. Like others have said only launch control is disabled for the first 500.

Engines are run in at the factory, but why not take it easy until you know nothing is leaking or loose?

Launch control is released at 500 miles, but that's all I know.

    I probably won't try anything beyond 3/4 throttle until 400-500 miles, then it's par-tee-time!

As mentioned the motors are run before they get shipped to Brampton...they are broke in. A few miles and heat cycles on the trans and rear...good to go!

They don't get stronger with miles and age guys...

LOL, I love the part about your wife screaming! My wife didn't scream, instead she started laughing uncontrollably followed by a non-stop grin. No doubt about it these cars are incredible. My wife was already spoiled by our Z06 Corvette and before that a heavily modded '03 Cobra Mustang. And she is the one who insisted I cancel my order for an SRT 392 Charger and buy the Challenger Hellcat when it came available.

I too never took it over 1/4 to 1/3 throttle during the break in period. Full throttle is mind bending, there are so few places that I have been able to let it loose. I would suggest that you keep the traction control engaged until you get used to full throttle blasts. It is nothing short of shock and awe.
