A little over two weeks away, but the Kentucky Derby is almost upon us again.
Any special plans for the event? And who are you picking to win?....take a risk here, and choose a "dark horse" in the race - not American Pharoah (heavy favorite).

I'm invited to a Derby party with friends. The only thing I know about horses is that they cost to feed and they are nice to look at. I prefer the mechanical horses like ours 700+ "Horsepower" at a time.

My brother throws a party for every big horse racing event of the year. He's gone to the Derby, and going to Keeneland this year for the Breeders' Cup races. I'm not nearly into it as much as he is, but hold my own handicapping. We usually do The Travers in Saratoga each year. Beautiful place, and great scenery.
I guess the Derby is like the Superbowl, Daytona 500, or Indy 500 all rolled into one for horse racing fans.

Hit the Trifecta in the Derby yesterday - won $505.00 on a $30.00 bet (8-18-10 boxed). Came in 18-8-10.
Had a few Mint Juleps to celebrate. :D That should cover a pair of drag radials for the Cat.......
Oh wait, that's right..... 236 days and I still don't have a VIN.

I understand that! Marty and I lived in Saratoga Springs, NY for a while. We found out QUICK what time of year to not leave the house! It ... was ... horrible!

I spend a few days each summer at The Spa for the meet. Saturdays are rough with the traffic in such a small town, but it's worth the trouble a few times each summer. Travers Day is brutal.

Marty went to the Navy's Nuclear Prototype Training in Ballston Spa. That area is truly beautiful, I loved that area, and was so sad when we got transferred ... especially when we got sent to Charleston, SC. I was born in "Charlietown", spent a big chunk of my childhood there, my Mother is a native Charlestonian so I had lots family there. I love to travel and see new places, so was massively disappointed when we ended up there ... I mean, I had seen it, done it, and tasted it all (several times over)! LOL!
