Can anyone provide me with contact info for the active exhaust valve bypass kit? I've read several posts, but haven't been able to find any specific info on where to get one.

I'm also curious if anyone can confirm that eliminating the mufflers (keeping the resonators) reduces hp. My head is about to explode from reading posts about gaining or losing hp from exhaust mod's. I have no interest in a cat back system. Too expensive and I want to keep the factory tips. I was thinking about just installing a pair of Flowmaster Super 40's, but only if I gain some power.

Our national tech informed me it would be unnoticeable hp + or - with mid muffler delete!! So basically less then 1 hp + or -!!!

I'm not sure why anyone would have told you that removing the mid-mufflers would lose hp... you don't. You lose a tiny bit of low end torque, but it seems many people these days don't know the difference.

It's a negligible difference really. And something that you won't even realize if you're jamming on the throttle and taking off. It will only be noticeable at a walking pace, such as in a parking lot or going over a speed bump.

I don't suppose there will be a mod that allows us to manually open and close the stock valves, like on Vettes? I'd like it louder sometimes, but I also need it to be quiet other times. Big reason I haven't simply done the mid muffler deletes. Thanks!

An electronic solution via a controller for these valves is a long way off and really cost prohibitive from a manufacturing standpoint. I have looked into it before designing the simulator. It's not as simple as creating a controller that uses the OBDII port under the dash gain control of the valves. If the valves were an on/off option it possibly could be done, but they are not. These valves work on a pretty complicated algorithm map. The valves have three wires, power, ground, and bus control feedback. Bus control feedback is the data wire. The valve actuator motors are of a hall effect design, which tell the PCM what position the valve is in as the PCM commands the valve position requirement under varying conditions. Those "varying" conditions (load, rpm, speed) etc are plotted in the PCM algorithm map. That algorithm map looks to the valve position under those conditions for a valve position response. If the valve is not in the correct position it sets a code. To try to "piggyback" and control this electronically is next to impossible, at least at this current time.

    Well, that's a bummer, lol.

Appreciate you taking the time to explain it Timmbo. Thanks.

But, put simply, light throttle closed, heavy throttle open.

That's one way to control it.

Actually I will post a solution on this site quite soon. The only thing touched in the current oe exhaust is cable connection to the valves. Then a switch, tap power, one other wire, and the solution. Switch between open, or, car control. No codes.

Those valves are there for performance enhancement. A little back pressure is good for performance. It's the latest rage for the horsepower modding crowd is the addition of a motorized metal flap in the back of a good exhaust system, just makes it better. And its also good to make the removal of the valves so complex that it requires a remote artificial flap or Bill Gates to crack the code to stop them. They also serve as a rain and rodent protective trap door to prevent intrusion into ones exhaust system. The benefits of these brilliantly designed gifts from the muffler gods are uncountable.
I also recently read that you can program an IPad and install one on each side plugging them into the valve interface tail to eliminate those pesky devils. I'm working on a custom billet aluminum IPad exhaust mount currently, should sell like hotcakes.
Ah to heck with it, I'll just remove my mid mufflers instead.

Okay, you've open the proverbial bag letting the cat out and everyone one of us want to know more and see it. Hopefully it will be ready on time for it to be under Christmas trees everywhere cause it should sell!
