I've got a charger without the hk system. My local car audio guy tells me for about 3k I can substantially beat factory sound.
Due to budget issues, haven't yet explored this side of spending more money on the car!
One step at a time...order several cars to no avail....find one.....get it....have it delivered across the country...start improving various aspects factory seems to have forgotten....now, get to improve the other systems I'll enjoy like audio and other electronic devices.
As I haven't decided on proper electronic counter measures, yet, I guess next paycheck goes to sounds. Will keep you informed as to progress.
The fun never ends, but, GOD, I love this car, and....it's worth every penny so far!

My take is you amplify crap you you just get louder crap. Sorry, Im kinda tuff on the HK. Don't like...Nope don't like it at all.
I honestly have no idea, some one let us know. I wondered if after market speakers would be an improvement as I wonder what is being used now behind those grills? Anyone had the stock speaker out and can post a pic front and back of speaker?

Zippy did you have the HK upgraded system or just stock before? Any pics? I had the HK amp flash, while sounding better, my rear speakers are still crackling when hitting some low Bass. I want to upgrade, but keep the look of stock, don't want anything added on the outside. Any info would be appreciated.

Forum member HCDC did some amp and sub upgrades. I can't remember the thread name he started...about 4-6 weeks ago. I did visit a stereo shop yesterday and the owner said start with the amp, perhaps the subs and modify/add as you go along. My HK sounds great on some songs thru the USB with my iPod...and other songs sound below avg and the volume cranked at 38 is really disappointing. Perhaps you can find it using the search function. XM and radio quality is below expectations. Hope this helps...and yes ...tough crowd!!

Are we allowed to sell stuff on here? I have two 12" Eclipse subs and two 1000W mono MTX amps if anybody is looking. PM me if interested.

I had the HK and put in subs. Disconnected factory sub (left it in the car)
Used my own amp, capacitor, and power feeds from the battery (nice that its in the back)
I tapped the existing sub wires so the crossovers were still in line with the factory amp
I also added sub control volume up front

    really, not too bad

    Installed subs.jpg

If you really want better sound, get a factory integration unit like Audiocontrol and replace everything. There are other OEM Integration kits but those popped in my head.

I edited this to remove the JL unit, guess its not working as it should.
