My local dealer and from what I've read you need a Hellcat allocation to order a car. A few dealers tell me you don't need an allocation you just order them like any other car. The dealers that tell me you don't need an allocation usually has 3 Hellcats in stock and has sold 3 or more 2016 Hellcats. So what's the truth?

Dealers need allocation to order from the factory.

A dealer may be able to find your car specs at a different dealer, but you will pay a lot more.

The dealers that have "3 in stock" usually want too much for them and are looking to charge way over MSRP.

Yeah... if they are telling you they don't need allocation, they are lieing through their teeth. They are either confident they can sell you one of their 3 or at least find something close to what you want for a hefty mark up. Find a different dealer.

This year all dealers were told up front how many they would be getting allocated, and are allocating by specific transmission. My dealer got 3 and the first 2 were manuals. So even though I was next in line at my dealership, I wanted an Automatic, and they didn't get that allocation until December.

If you are willing to travel some, you can probably find a dealer that will sell at MSRP. Finding a dealer now that has allocations without an order in for that allocation is kind of tough. The new round of allocations for the rest of the MY2016 will be in February, I think.

My dealer got 2 allocations (Charger & A8 Challenger) "out of the blue" when they were first told none until Feb - so keep checking around.
