I keep watching all the videos of the bad superchargers and mine seems to sound the same, at least to me. Would you mind watching my short clip and telling me what you think?

My car is a 2017, that was built on 10-20-2016. It only has 639 miles on it from the drive home when I bought her out of state. Between weather and work I have not had a chance to drive her even one time since I bought it, and now I wonder if my first cruise in it will be to the dealer for a new blower.

Thanks for any input you may be able to provide!

I do hear a whine but it is a slightly different octave than the good/bad video examples I have listened to. Yours sounds more like power steering pump maybe. But what you could do to put your mind at ease - maybe - is try an automotive stethoscope or press a long screwdriver to the supercharger and your ear to the handle and listen for an abnormal grinding sound. Bad bearings, etc., typically make a noticeable, nasty, metallic grinding sound when they are going bad. Make certain you don't have any clothing, necktie, etc that could get caught in the moving parts. That would suck to say the least.

The nice thing about the automotive stethoscope is they typically come with a metal rod attachment which you can touch to the suspicious parts whether it be an alternator, PS pump, SC, or whatever and isolate the problem. Or you can use the cone attachment to narrow down the location in the engine compartment. Good luck!

Please do report back. You won't regret the stethoscope, I wouldn't be without one, can't tell you how many times I have diagnosed issues with them.

It seems to have more of the at idle whine than mine and sounds like the videos of the bad ones to me.

I was suspect of mine, but the dealer gave the ok. Yours sounds more pronounced.

Thanks, glad it sounds ok to you and usmc341, that does make me feel slightly better. I can assure you that the one time I poured the coals to her that the blower was indeed working.;)

Sounds like mine that was replaced earlier this week. You need to go to the dealer and get it checked.

To me it sounds like other examples of defective units. Much like an electric pencil sharpener. Mine sounds nothing like yours. Good luck.

I use what I call The Harmon Karden test. If it drowns out Black Sabbath at level 4 I'll take it in. ;)

Am I the first 2017 to possibly have this issue?
