Well seven days shy of eight months and my cat finally shows up. I wasnt in any hurry because of the winters up here in the northeast but as soon as it started getting warm I felt that patients slipping away. Anyhow I hated to get rid of my SRT8 cuz I've been all over the USA in her and enjoyed every minute of it but it was the only way I could get this beautiful machine, so I had to do what I had to do.
So my comparisons of the two are night and day. After raking up 70 miles today this is my initial impressions: the HC's ride is so much smoother/softer than the SRT8, I swear the 8 was like riding in a brick and my kidneys will forever hate me for it lol. The HC's steering is a dream compared to the 8, easier to turn and no stalling out while backing up with the wheels locked hard to the left or right. Now both are M6s but I like the feel of the 8s clutch better. Not sure if its cuz I'm still breaking in the HC or cuz I haven't found my groove with it yet but my ol' 8 felt much smoother. I'm still trying to decide if i like the HK sound system or not, it defiantly isn't as loud as the kicker setup that came in the 8. I say I'm not decided yet cuz after making myself stop driving I did go into the settings and turn things up, it did seem to make a difference for the better but after some more testing I will know.
Now on to the good stuff, holy bat wings this car pulls hard!! I'm trying to follow the break in procedures but that supercharger whine is the $h1t!! And trying to maintain below 55 is a joke. Every time I looked down I was at 65 and climbing effortlessly. I made myself set the cruise on the way home so I would behave. Those that live up here in the northeast know if you are doing 70 & under you are going to get ran over. Average speed around here is 85, even with the troopers following you, have to love this area if ya have quick cars. Oh I almost forgot, this exhaust is freaking awesome too. I've always had loud truck, makes it easier to know when to shift when your running through the gears and I never had the heart to switch out the 8's exhaust so I just suffered driving around all quietly. Guess the plus side is the cops never knew when I was running through the gears. Dodge done a great jib with this exhaust, quiet when you're cruising around and banshee loud when you get all up in it.
I must give a big shout out to April for the red comparison, this Redline is the exact shade I was looking for. And of course thanks Resume Speed for the updates, you helped keep the calm in the waiting storm, oh & I must also blame you for me only getting an hour of sleep last night, the arrival anticipation was brutal! :p

Congrats and nice commentary as well. The Redline looks great...beautiful pics. Thanks for sharing and be mellow during your break-in. I know its hard (thats what she said) but your HC will love you for it later on. Enjoy responsibly.

Congratulations, Dakman. I am trading a black SRT8 for a red HC as well... great side by side comparison.

Thanks all for the kind words, time to get up a bit earlier so I can go squeeze in few more extra miles before having to report into work.
I'm with ya there, spent more time at the dealership getting issues with that thing fixed than I cared to. Will never own another one if I have my way with it.
