So, I decided to take the cat out on this beautiful February day (Temps in the 60's) and after about 3 miles I lost power steering, the charging system error (battery light) came on and the temp started to rise....luckily I was right around the corner from a dodge dealer and a service guy that I know was still working. He put it on the lift and you could visually see that the crank pulley was racked and none of the belt were turning....the tech could even unscrew the crank bolt with his fingers!

Can someone tell be what Dodge/SRT's protocol is for this. Will they just tell the tech to re-torque the bolt?

    Thanks

Sorry to hear your news. Far is right.

Interesting just quick checked another thread with same issue - VIN was less than 60 units off from yours - FH834366.

As posted up, the engine gets replaced. there is a very tight tolerance in the crank/pulley plus the special bolt, when the pulley spins it tears up the crank and thus the reason they replace the short block/engine.

A complete engine with supercharger or just the short block? Has Dodge/SRT done anything to address this problem on new motors or do they send a new one with there fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again?

If the engine over heated more than likely the complete engine, not confirmed but rumor has it there was a very small group of engines that had a possible issue in 2015 production.

That sucks sorry to hear that. This happened to another member and I believe he was able to have the factory send a new motor stamped with the same numbers so it keeps it numbers marching. You may want to look into that.

Oh man, that's sad that your car had this happen. I hope that Dodge figured out what is causing this and fixed it for later builds.

For Dodge to avoid this again, why wouldn't they recall all affected and fix this so it won't happen. Replacement cost of the engine to me would more than pay them in the long run
