These dealers charging an ADM really suck. They are destroying their own reputations and Dodge's too.

From another point of view: If the customer is willing to offer less than MSRP, why would he be offended if the dealer would ask more than MSRP?

I don't see anyone asking for $20k under MSRP, so why should dealerships be asking for that much over?

It's called supply and demand. Basic economics. However nothing prevents you from offering the dealer msrp.

It depends on your perspective. $2k over msrp is supply and demand. $20k over is gouging. Plain and simple.

Not so simple. If people will pay the 20k over than it is absolutely supply and demand. Very low supply , high demand equals what ever you can get someone to pay. And someone will pay the 20k. I agree is is also gouging but everyone is gouging..airlines, gas companies, etc...

Normandin is here in the heart of Silicon Valley, and will sell that car over MSRP, as they have already done with several previous.

Automax in Delaware Oh another on to avoid,I put money down in July of 2014 and was the first one to put a deposit down, they agreed to sell me one at sticker, when the allocations came in they ordered everyone else's cars because they marked their cars up,so I didn't find this out until june, then had to go on the hunt, would have been alot easier if they would have been upfront with me months ago when their were more cars to choose from and maybe could have enjoyed the summer with mine.Mine is being built today

You should at least place "gouging" in quotes. It is difficult to label an non-necessity item that is over priced as gouging.

Maybe ownership of a Hellcat can be called a "necessity" by some. I know I acted that way myself until I got mine.

Sure it's very discouraging seeing a car or truck you want priced way over MSRP. I have felt that way myself. I don't call it gouging, it just pisses me off.

Sorry I had bad info. Called Hooman CDJ in Glendale. '15 Challenger Hellcat $35k over. Yes thirty five thousand over msrp for a 1 year old car. I'll stick with gouging.

You've got to be kidding me. $35K above MSRP on a $65K car and you call that gouging?!!

The guy that pays that is either fallen into millions of dollars (that he didn't earn) or is a fool. He didn't get gouged. He got played a fool.

yep, they absolutely WILL sell it above MSRP. not sure if they'll get the full $15K but for Cali, unfortunately that's par for the course. IMO the message is to look out of state if you live someplace where markups run rampant.

I understand the feeling of pissed-offedness when you have a bunch of emotion invested in getting a ride that you're really stoked about. but from all that I see, ADM's are not going anywhere for vehicles with huge demand. so, if you want it at a price you can live with, you have to work around it, which means being flexible in where you're searching. it is more convenient to deal with a local dealer but in the big picture, for a lot of people, it's a hell of a lot more expensive.
