    Soooo,

I'm still in VON purgatory, waiting for the day the day my order goes to D1, which is fine by me. I like saving more $$ for a down payment.

BUT! I changed my order initially from auto-8 to manual-6 since I LOVE the driving experience, but I like to street drag (on occasion) too.

My question is, have any of the new Hellcat owners had a chance to drive both versions of the Hellcat's transmission? Is the manual too laborious? Or, does the auto seem too much like a golf cart, having only to manipulate the gas pedal & steering wheel?

Any first hand experience would be greatly appreciated.

I have... The auto is great hands down. I am racing mine a lot that's why, I picked the A8 in mine. The 6 speed is smooth as glass did not drive it hard. can't go wrong either way.

If you are going to race the car on a regular basis, and want the quickest, most consistent ET, buy the A8... No question

If really want to enjoy the car EVERY time you drive it, but are willing to sacrifice a few tenths at the track, buy the M6...

I drove the A8 Scat Pack and felt a little, how can I say it....bored? Granted it wasnt a HellCat, which would add to the excitement of the A8...

For me personally, it was a HUGE and VERY difficult decision... I actually had 2 A8 cars on order.... In the end, it wasnt worth the better timeslip the 1 or 2 times I hit the track a year to buy the A8... I was honestly afraid I would spend $65k on something that I MAY get bored of....

    So I bought the M6...

That being said, you WONT go wrong whatever you decide.. They are both great cars..

Also consider how much time you'll spend at the quarter-mile drags, and/or sitting in heavy rush hour traffic! There is more to think about than just what is quicker and more consistent. I already have a couple boring cars, with boring automatics, a Honda CRV and Toyota Camry, and can use one of those if I want to mindlessly putter in thick rush hour traffic, or if the weather is bad. So, when I hop in my Stingray or Hellcat, it damn sure better have a stick, cuz I'm in the mood to actually DRIVE!

O my God How can anyone think the auto Hellcat is boring??? WTF?? I have a 6 spd 392 SRT that is an absolute blast to drive....but the Hellcat is freeking nutz!!!! Don't think for one second its boring!!! Is the manual more fun? I can't answer that but for crying out loud I'm getting a little "bored" of which might be better, more fun, etc,etc....if it worries you all that much get one each...but please don't criticize anyone that choose differently than you, we are all Hellcat lovers period!

the A8 autostick is very cool....very much like a his/hers shifter on a 1970 GTO

    its not like the A5

i always drove my A5 w/ autostick......drive your A8 that way and you get about 1/4-1/2 of the manual experience

if you want to win your street race you will buy the A8

I love my 8 speed and for those who do race they get the best times. There is power in every gear and lots of it

No adaptive cruise on Challenger. Regular cruise yes. No remote start on M6. A8 has remote start.
