Sooo I am to take it easy for 500 miles, not an easy task. Took delivery on Black Friday and now at 160 miles. Trying to follow the rules but its been a struggle. Kind of like setting a plate of tuna in front of a cat and telling it not to eat it. Just yesterday a runny nose kid in a rice burner with a fat muffler wanted his way with a Hellcat. So much for the break in. Thats the last time I will not follow proper procedure…LOL

Yep....I feel your pain. I'm at 62 miles right now. I have kept the RPMs under 3500 and the speed below 65. I really want to just put my foot into, but I'm afraid that won't happen until Spring.

LOL... Yeah the toughest task of a new Hellcat owner! :D Just get it out and take it on a road trip... short drives locally will drive you nuts! And you'll end up looking like this guy >>> o_O

Actually I would welcome that problem because my Hellcat Challenger most likely wont arrive until the middle or end of January and by that time the roads around here will be well salted, thus the car will be flat bedded from the dealer to a detailer shop for prep cleaning, CQuartz Finest coating and Expel protection, then flat bedded again to my home to hibernate for about 3 months in a heated garage before I can start the 500 mile break in process inflicting further pain !! ---frustrating but fun!
Maybe the flat bed driver will let me sit in it ? :D

Just drive it more. I've only had mine for about 7 weeks and I'm almost at 1,600 miles already.

I drive it every day, unless I need to leave a car at the airport (that's what my old Honda is for).

Drive it as much as you can. Go to the store, take the kids to practice, take the wife out, etc. The first 300 miles was my hardest. We had lots of rain and long hours at work. Once I crested over 300 the rest seemed to come quickly.

    20151018_153125.jpg I put 2300mi on mine first 14 days I owned it.

Picked it up at dealer, threw an overnight bag in the back and took off for a 2 day trip.

First 150 mi (cruise control at 55 mph with different gears to vary rpm ) got passed by a Prius. No problem as I was getting to know the beast and enjoying every minute of it. Next buck fifty kept it under 70. By end of day 400 mi on it.....had a guy wave me alongside so he could hang out the window, take a pic,and give me a thumbs up. Car gets big respect and it's super on the road.

Now in storage, got lots of trips planned for next year.

I got mine Black Friday too...sitting on 441 miles. The first 100 was the worst.

Get out there and drive that thing! :)

I should easily get my 500 within the first weekend. Fortunately we have quite a few 2-lane double yellow line mountain roads nearby that are 55-45mph zones with some 25-15mph sharp curves... so that will be plenty of "exercising rpms" without stomping on the throttle. :D

This is talked about so much, you'd think you'd at least stumble across the numerous topics by accident...

You do not need to do that silly stuff. All SRT engines are already broken in, and the Hellcat gets even more dyno time. Everything else "falls into place" and mates with contact points & parts no matter how you drive it.

I drove mine like I stole it since mile 3, and I'm at 9000 trouble free miles.

Made a right out of the dealership's parking lot and then another right onto a highway on ramp. I was at 90 before actually getting on the highway. The next 600 miles were at speeds above 70mph so no "break-in" for me. 22,000 miles later I'm still engine problem free.
