I'm sitting here at my dealership getting the Chally Hellcat's 1st oil change and having them tweak the alignment which pulled right since day 1.

Oil change service plan is dirt cheap: $235 for 4 changes. That's what the oil costs alone! Let's see if they bait and switch on me like the other dealership did a few weeks ago. In that case the price on my bill was $60 more than quoted.

I've been waiting for almost 4 hours now..and they're not busy. People getting oil changes have come and gone, most in about 30 min. Not mine.

At the 1.5 hour mark I walked into the shop to see what was up. There were 4 techs working on the oil change. One was wrestling with the oil filter. He couldn't get it off. I never saw them drain the oil cooler or remove the filter, but I may have just missed it since I was pacing around the area and talking on the phone.

Is there a way to check if the cooler was drained? I guess it might be a little oily by the drain. Will have to look. I did see them pouring in oil from a Pennzoil case rather than just from the volume system they use for regular oil.

Fingers are crossed. Update to come if I ever get outta here!

You better ask anyway if they were able to drain the cooling oil

Man, it took my mechanic 10 minutes. I stood there and just pointed and admired things like a transmission, exhaust and suspension stuff! Hope they have not destroyed the filter too bad yet.

Looks good so far but no way for me to see filter without lifting car.

Price was correct, so some good news! They drove it 17 miles to check the alignment. Hmm.

Hummm! tried to reply..received an error message...wonder why..o_O
Anyway, bringing in Thursday recall and oil change..
    1) Place it in valet mode (like I did getting the 3M PPF done)...if they disconect the battery....I'll know ...no longer in valet mode.
    2) Give then the black key...just in case
    3) Ask, no demand, going on the test drive....I know liability issues standing in the shop..but outside the shop...doesn't apply.

    Just my 2 cents....:)

What IS required for every oil change with our Hellcats? I wanna know exactly what they need to do (chances are THEY wont know)

What is this 'cooling oil' mumbo jumbo?

There is a good post with pictures on the site....I copied and will give them the copy to guide them just in case.....has instructions on not only the main plug, but the location of the inter-cooler plug. They need to drain both...

There is no "cooling oil". It's just that some oil sits in the oil cooler and won't drain when you remove the oil pan plug....so you've got to open the cooler drain to remove it.

I plan to bring the car to the dealer for all important maintenance for warranty reasons. Also, they are better equipped and backed by deep pockets in case they damage anything. Turns out their oil changes are dirt cheap, too. Even if they don't drain the cooler (they better!), at that price I can just change it a little more often. The volume of oil you drain from the cooler is very small anyway.
