Anyone having problems with the picture from their Backup Camera? Mine is so dark at times it is useless.

I saw a thread not too long ago on here where people posted pictures of their backup camera at night. During the daytime everyone's looked great, but at night that was a different story. Some were great, others were atrocious. Mine unfortunately is TERRIBLE at night. Not sure if that's just the way it is or if there is a problem. I plan on letting a dealer see it though that's for sure.

I have the same feeling about it being horrible at night. It is grainy and dark. Sad, because the 2014 4Runner I traded in was way better.

I agree, the back up camera in the dark is useless,, it's a very hard car to back up, and if you tint the Windows, it just adds to problem of being able to see backing up...but I still like the car.

I agree with everything you pointed out. Tint has made it harder, too. On a positive note, the reverse lights are waaaaay better then the 2010 Camaro I had. I wouldn't call the back up cam useless at night, but I think it would be if I had the reverse lights off my old Camaro. Nonetheless, I like this car waaaay more, and like you will be keeping her. Way more then I could say for the Camaro. She only got 6 months before I was fed up with all her shortcomings.

How can some cats have great night backup cameras and others don't? is that something we can get fixed or do we live with it?

I will try and track down the pics in that thread. There was a definite difference with some peoples camera.

This is what I assume most of the cameras look like on our hellcats at night. It's sooooooo bad. They should be able to do something.

    Not my vid btw.

my rear back up camera is ok during the day but a bit dark, if backing into a shaded area, forget it, you can not see at all, at night it is crap, it is either too dark to see anything or there is glare almost like a sunburst effect or a real grainy look like it is getting interference or something, and the colors are all distorted, i miss my aftermarket alpine camera that i had in my old truck, great picture night and day and a much wider field of view so you could see cars coming when pulling out of angled parking lots, for what we pay for these cars you would think that fca would put in reasonable quality parts outside of the engine and trans,

Mine works just fine. Frame rate is lower than what the 2011-2014 vehicle camera/Uconnect displays were though. First thing I noticed when I used it (looks like 30 Hz refresh vs 60 Hz from the past).
