Who here has installed the Barton shifter using the FACTORY shifter handle? How does it bolt to the Barton shifter?

I really like the feel and the look of the factory shifter ball and stick. But looking at the pictures the Barton flat stick looks as if it bolts to both sides of the shifter...which would no doubt add strength. If I am not mistaken the factory stick only bolts to one side.

Basically I want the shifter but I want to retain the stock appearance from the outside but using the OEM handle. Unless there is a major strength between the 2 then I will opt for the Barton flat stick.

The tab on the stock handle tab has to be spread apart from the handle and insert the main shifter shaft into the clamping block at the front or the back. Dealers choice. I personally like the Barton handle.

I have both the blade and pistol grip handles for my Barton, the pistol grip is staying on.

The other thing with the stock handle, unless they have changed the material that its made out of is that it can/will break. Its powdered metal, and it has broken, especially if you get on it often and really like to grab the the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. But just not sure if they changed the material for this year or not.

The Barton, that I had in my old M6 car, really improved the feel and accuracy of the shifts. While I never thought the stock shifter was bad, and had a hard time convincing myself to go to the Barton, I ended up missing 3rd gear one too many times... once I made the switch, I wondered what had taken me so long... I used the Barton flat stick and the shift knob that changed the world as we know it.... 20150528_144555.jpg

So I just watched the install video on the website. Their flat stick how it bolts to the shifter is a much better (and no doubt stronger) design than the factory stick. I think I am gonna opt for brushed flat stick.

I have the brushed flat stick with pistol shifter with Sublime Green letter on the shifter along with short shifter. I have a number of mods I am waiting to install the whole package at once. To include springs, control arms, sway bars, upper and lower steering linkage and urethane bushings.

I love the whole kit. Much better than the stock. Shorter throw and better control. Look old school too. I would also recommend the Ram clutch pedal adjustment valve. moves the clutch engagement point toward the floor where it belongs. I did the same with my Viper.
