I am a new member and this is my first time posting. I have a 2016 Hellcat Challenger. It is in the garage for the winter. I received a Deltran Battery Tender Plus with the cigarette lighter adapter. Is it ok to plug it in to the 12v plug in the center console and leave it? I don't want to cause any damage to the electrical system. I tried to find this topic in the site but the search tool gave me nothing. Thank you for the help.

i shouldn't be a problem, just make sure you disconnect it before you start the car or it might blow the fuse for the lighter. the only other thing is this car may have a system that basically disconnect the battery after sitting for a long time, in a battery saver or sleep mode. if it does it wont charge the battery.

Why not hook it up to the jump start connectors under the hood ?
If it's a "Battery Tender" brand, it came with those connectors too.
Your way would require the window down, and wires running into the car.

    Welcome to the forum.

Doesn't the kit have the connectors like pipe post said?

IMG_1174.JPG Connect it under the hood. Positive goes to the terminal under the red plastic cap on the left and negative goes to the grounding stud at the end of my finger>>>>>>

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Grtz on the Hellcat! I do not have much to contribute on this subject, because I live in the South so don't hafta store my HC for the winter months, but you are in good hands with our fellow forum members to the North, they got ya covered! :)

Thank you all for the responses so far. I hear so many different ways to keep the battery charged. I know the cigarette adapter works in the center console (tried it this afternoon) but I hear most people suggest using the posts under the hood. I am going to go that route.

It's easy to permanently install the "quick disconnect" wires to the battery in the trunk. The wires route easily out the back of the trunk.
You just have to remember to disconnect the wires before you take off!:oops::)

The car does not have a battery saver function...I know because mine is hooked up to a Battery Tender Junior and it has a maintenance mode that keeps the battery at 100% once fully charged. If I disconnect it and leave the car a day or to, the batter drops below slightly 100%. There is a VERY small draw from something. Just make sure to take it out of the cigarette lighter before you start it. You could blow the fuse for the lighter.

Goingsolo2, thank you for the info. I think I am really going to like this site. No more wondering about the 'how to's' on my Hellcat.
