What is the way to go with an A8 at the drag strip with summer tires and or drag radials?

I realize track conditions weigh heavily on the process.

Also did I read about launching in 2nd gear ???

    Thank you !

The only thing I can provide is at least take the slack out of the Driveline before launch.

I can now hit low 4's all day long with the stock rubber 0-60 MPH. My best is 4.1, but I did that with my cold tires over-inflated and a passenger. I expect mid to high 3 second range won't be too hard to hit. I'm constantly shocked by the power of this car.

Forget launch control. I put the transmission in sport and everything else is street mode. I roll the car easy at first, very careful to limit wheel spin. Practice and you can get a great launch, then nail it for rest of the run. The first 100 feet are everything.

    Still learning!

Going from All-Seasons to 305 555R's in the back on the street is a HUGE difference. I'm hoping to take it to the track next week as I did all-seasons on the track, but not the radials yet.

It's nice being able to floor it in 2nd gear and not have traction control completely cut the power., It's also nice to not have 1st gear be completely useless at anything past 25% throttle.

Put your left foot lightly on the brake pedal, right foot on the go pedal slowly bringing your rpm's up.

Upon launch, remove your left foot from the brake while moderately depressing the go pedal until you feel you can push it through the floor. :D

Paul, am I describing it correctly?

Jolly, This is exactly what I meant. Now if we all had the tires Booky is showing in his signature, completely different story. :)

Tried most of these suggested methods the other day when an older modified Stingray lined up next to me. Even though I'd practiced light throttle launches and thought I was fairly good at them, when the car next to you gets out in front and starts to pull away...you just instinctively start pushing the go pedal harder and that just makes things worse:( But, it was a good lesson and the guy was very cool. Of course he had Nitto 555's...should have known! Pretty sure I could have reeled him in though if we could have had an 1/8 mile or so:D
