New Hellcat owner and experienced drag racer. I'm trying to decide which is the best drag radial tire for the stock A8 Hellcat. I'm also interested in a good choice for a wheel, not too expensive or too heavy. Thanks in advance for any help...

They make a 20 inch tire.

Welcome to the forum. The best tire will be whatever someone has been satisfied with. My experience with Nitto is they hook well at first then quickly traction goes down hill. The best drag radial I have found is the Mickey Thompson ET Street "R".

I used them last year in the Modern Street Hemi Shootout races on my 2013 Challenger SRT 426 Stroker. They were the only tire I have used that I didn't have to roll into the throttle off the line. 305/45/18

Nittos work well with a good burnout. They took me to 10s.

Great info... I have seen several references to the MTs, they seem to be the best for the track. Is the 305/45/18 the biggest tire to fit without rubbing? They are Street legal right?

They are DOT rated for the street but they will be useless in the rain or temps below 40*.....These are great track tires but I wouldn't use them for daily street driving. If the street is what you want them for you might try the Mickey Thompson ET Street II 305/35/20.

They will mount on your stock 9.5 wheels with a minimal amount of bulge. I had them on a 9" wheel before and they did great. These have a little more tread than the "R" but still not a wet/cold weather tire.

I have an extra set of wheels from a 2010 SRT8 , I can daily drive on the DR's but I don't. My husband usually changes them out before going to the track. Personally I did not find any of the DR's good for Daily driving, other than a short distance on a Sunny day.
First I had the 20 inch Nittos, they do like to be heated and I had no problem hooking. My Charger was stock with ET's 11.0's all day long.

Next I tried MT ET street 20's for better ET's and got my 10.8 best stock Charger time.

During testing some different mods and getting tuning info.
I ran MT ET street R rear wheels and MT 305 45 18 R's for the 1/4 mile and was running low 10's until I had the rear gear 309 installed.
Then I was into the 9's
I ran all 3 tire set ups at Races with nicely prepped tracks or during T+T with not so great prepped tracks. The MT ET R's were excellent either way.

The MT ET R's my husband had them on order and waiting quite some time, as they were brand new last year. Oh BTW they are on 18 x10 Weld Wheels

The word spread Fast how good these tires were for hooking, and many have been sold

I'd give HHP a call for a quote on tire and wheel needs.

The biggest factor in all of this will be track prep. At most tracks they dont put the sticky stuff at the normal test n tune for street cars. At some of the special events they will have the track prepped better.

My vote is to use the same tire that the person who ran 9.7 is using. What more needs to be said (i.e. listen to Linda). ;);););););)

Welcome Topcat! First off, before installing any type of sticky tire... Install an aftermarket driveshaft (often refer to a DS in the forums). Its not if but when will your stock driveshaft twist with the sticky tires. I bought a pair of 20" Replika rims and 305/35R20 M/T SS drag radials for my car. I daily drive with mine only putting the original P-zeros back on when I take it to the dealer for service and/or storage for the winter. I chose the 20" cause I wanted the car to look as close to original. The 18" will give a slight advantage but looks like an aftermarket change. I ran 3 passes within 30 minutes 10.971, 10.972, 10.978 without even shutting the car off :) In Canada, expect the price for the tires and rims installed for around $2,000CAD. I heard in the US, it runs around $1,400.00USD.

MTs have been good to me on sub-optimal track prep.
