So many exhaust manufacturers post videos of them on scats of srt models...... It's not going to sound the same way.. Boggles my mind people trying to sell exhausts and then not having videos of them on the actual car they are trying to sell it for..

I agree, and I can't find anything for it on YouTube either.

I knew a mechanic was a big Harley Guy. Very honest. Had several moving violations because of loud pipes. He killed a pedestrian while driving the tow truck. The court held the moving violations against him for only loud pipes. He did a couple years in jail and lost license for a few after getting out. Tragic situation for everyone. Just be careful.

That is certainly is a sad story. I do have one question, how are loud pipes a moving violation? Loud pipes may make the car not road worthy but not sure how that could ever be considered a moving violation. That seems a bit odd.

    Consider cut outs ...
Best both worlds and can "tune" it to tone you want...

although a good point and very sad occurrence, the same logic applies to reasoning against buying a hellcat, as more than likely, you will incur moving violations having such fast car. Unless you got the car for cars and coffee Sunday shows

Or using it at its limits on closed courses, and having the control to not get stupid on the public streets.

Seriously OP, here are a couple of Detroit's finest. The Challenger is mine, bone stock exhaust and engine, but WOT for comparasion. Put some headphones on and give it a rip. There are lots of other worthy upgrades to do on the car. Actually what I noticed is after a time or two on our road course, it got louder. Must have blown out anything they thought of packing those little mufflers with.

not disagreeing, but we all know that moving violations consist of anything above the speed limit- a prius and a hellcat travel alongside the highway at 80 mph in a 70mph zone; wonder who will get the ticket. Point is: i don't think the referenced story is a good argument not to get a louder exhaust.

Really appreciate all the info. My wife told me she wished the car sounded more aggressive.....who am I to argue!.....I'm thinking the mid pipes and the 3.09 rear diff. Can get both for around the price of the Borla.

Apparently here in Mass loud pipes do constitute a moving violation. I do believe he had straight pipes. I know many guys here that have been written up for that. Many biker guys I know still risk it though. They tell me a lot of cops are bikers so they often get a pass. Not saying louder on a Hellcat will get you in same situation but just food for thought. After losing some of my hearing lately I am less likely to enjoy constant loud and I am more appreciative of a nice rumble with an occasional loud blast. Just remember your hearing is not necessarily a permanent gift. It could be gone in an instant.
