I am considering giving qtr mile drag racing a shot when my car hits 1500 miles. Just 500 on it now. My car is A8 and will be running the stock summer tires. I have no mods at all. I know off the line wheel spin is the big time killer here but I am used to coming off the line like an old lady with all the big block muscle cars I owned in the past. Just wondering from those that have had success. What trans, suspension, traction, launch on or off etc. Don't want to embarrass myself or the Hellcats. Thanks in advance.

Street suspension. If your using stock tires id leave traction control on street as well with track transmission. Now if your using drag radials id do sport traction or even traction all the way off. You can even flip it to manual mode start in 2nd gear ride it to redline then push it over to auto

Here's the setting I've seen on forum.

    Trans: Track
    Suspension: Street
Traction: sports / track / traction off / Steet (depends on your skill level and tires)

If you leave your transmission set to Drive, it will shit for you, but use the paddles to out it in 1st for the burn out and 2nd at the starting line. traction control off for the burnout,
suspension = sport, trans = track, traction control is up to you
give the car enough gas to put tension on the drivetrain and come out soft, like your in a hurry to get somewhere and then nail it
that is for street tires and is a good starting point, play around see what works for you

These are good tips. Will have to get some miles fast and invest in a new helmet. My old one Is out of code.

Drag Radials may be a good idea but for now I don't mind some wheel spin to bleed off some tension.

I agree with sgoyal. Track. Street. Street. Gives me my best time anyway. Fastest shift. More weight to rear. Keeps wheel spin down.

Bob, I was thinking to bring kids on Sunday so they can have fun watching NMRA/NMCA all star national. But I'll find out more on Sunday haha

If my drive shaft gets here before April 15th, then I might so Fast Friday too.
