Went to place an order a few hours ago and dealer said there was no option for black hoods on the order screen. Anybody aware of a problem?

You'll want to get a wrap anyway, the Satin hood would be the biggest pain in the arse to care for, i saw the instructions for caring for it (someone posted it awhile back) and it defeats the purpose!

Agreed.. my hood on the 2010 B5 was satin/flat/matte black paint and a complete pain in the ass. I'll be wrapping the Hellcat.

You put Xpel ultimate on the hood BEFORE you damage it. Problem solved.

Can you provide more details on this product? What does it do that wax doesn't do?

Matte is harder to care for but if you know how its not bad at all.

Adams forums has a bunch of great info on it. But to summarize,

    - Only use pure soap to clean it.. you dont want any kind of wax based soap.
    - never use any detail spray.. or anything that advertises shine.
    - Never clay bar it
    - To clean it quickly Glass Cleaner is recommended or waterless wash.

Also, Adams makes a product called quick sealant that is safe for protecting matte finish.

Dr. Beasley products work well, too. And are even recommended (along with Swissvax products) in the notice from FCA on caring for satin hood finish. I used them on my satin/flat/matte black hood on my 2010 B5.

Now that I have looked mine over it is going to take some work, but It looks far better than any wrapped hoods. But it is going to take lots of care and effort. Just something about the sheen of the satin, there is no wrap that will look this good. I can't get you a photo you just have to see it.

A while back I talked to a Dodge SRT Specialist about when the Satin Black Hood would be available again to add to existing orders, such as mine in BX status. I was told an ETA between 23 February and 2 March. I called my dealer yesterday and was told it is still not available. I also talked to SRT this morning and was told to continue working with the dealer and that it may not be available until April, May, or June. Has anybody received any information regarding when/if it will be available again? I don't mind a longer wait for my Hellcat as long as I still get a 2015 model. The Hellcat will be driven for fun but it is also an investment for me and I do not want to do anything to it aftermarket. With the allocation issues, I may have to live with the sublime hood in order to avoid losing my spot in line, but a Challenger Hellcat is still a valuable investment.
