Since the MSRP includes the original Challenger hood and we are paying additional for the Black Hood, any chance of getting the original hood as well as the new satin black black hood?

Secondly, since there is information on this forum suggesting that the cats awaiting black hoods are maybe not very well secured at AAT, if a car were to get stolen as was suggested happened in Georgia, would Dodge build us another to replace it immediately or would we have to go to the end of the line so to speak?

Just curious...see what happens when I have to sit and wait for my black hood to be done?!

The $995 that you are paying the factory for the satin black hood is for 1 hood that is already on the car. The car is then transported to another facility and then the hood is painted.

It is actually better to not order the hood from the factory.

Instead, purchase the hood separately online through a Mopar Parts vendor.
That way, you will actually get two different hoods and also not delay the build of the factory car.

As an example (Search Google for a vendor and part #):

    PART #:
    68259672AB - Hood - $1025 ($681.54 discounted)
    68184348AC - Center Hood Bezel - $19.60 ($13.72 discounted)
    68184352AB - Hood Bezel - $15.35 ($10.75 discounted)
    68184353AB - Hood Bezel - $15.35 ($10.75 discounted)

    $716.76 + $100 shipping est = $816.76.

    So, you could either:
    (A) Wait for the factory car to come with 1 hood that is Satin Black -or-
    (B) Take it off the current order, get two hoods for a price less than $995, and also not delay your Hellcat build any further.
    (C) Get a Carbon Fiber Hood from Speedlogix.

Here is a picture of one hood delivered to Steve White Motors.

If I order the hood will it come in before the car? :)

Haha, probably at the current allocation rate. Steve White Motors ordered 5+ hoods and all of them got in and sold to customers before his first Torred Hellcat hit the lot.

Do you get the plastic parts with that or do you have to take them off the other hood and reuse them

One of the part numbers is the hood and the other three are the plastic inserts.

We'll also need to check if the underhood insulation is included as well. If not, you could just transfer that to the new hood.

Center scoop grill snaps into place. Two tabs at the bottom of the sco need to be depressed thought the hood latch opening to remove it. On a painted car one needs to apply protective tape to the paint just in front of the leading edge of the center scoop prior to removing so the paint is not scratched during removal. The outer air extractors are held in by two bolts each. Those are simple to remove.

And you can use the painted hood to set up a shine in the garage and display all your Hellcat stuff, Tammie??

Awesome info I have been debating whether to drop the hood since my car hadn't moved off of BX status in December my dealer will have his January Allocation this week. I will cancel the hood and keep my fingers crossed. Thank you for all of your ideas.

Rayzazoo - A few quick questions to your outstanding information and research.
    1. Does the hood in the picture already come painted Satin Black? AND... Would the hood require any additional prepping besides the inserts and possibly factory insulation?
    2. When you mention discounted prices, does that mean the person buying the hood and parts would need to be Commercial parts dealer or affiliated with Dodge/Crysler?
    3. What approximate distance was your est. shipping cost of $100? (i.e. 200mi, 500mi, etc)

I would go this route for sure if I knew I could get the pricing and no added painting cost would be involved.
