Sure everything is covered for 3/36 and if the engine grenades they will be obligated to replace it, but is that really where you want to be because you couldn't exercise a little self control for a few hundred miles ??

Now, if it's on a 2 or 3 yr lease & there are no plans to buy it out @ the end, then I'd probably beat the snot out of it

Aaaaaaannnnddddd.....another reason why you never buy a lease trade-in muscle car. Just saying. It's like buying a rental car. I would NEVER buy one of the rental cars I previously drove!

Mash the sh*t out of it for 36k miles.......then take care of it like a normal human being. Thats what I say. For 36k miles its their baby! Its a suggestion that benefits dodge by you following it to a tee. Screw that! Its $65k+, jump on it and see what that mutha does! Engine is good...you've already jumped on it and nothing else has let go...Have some fun my friend!

wow, soo many threads on engine break in, it always turn into the same comments, some say break it in like the manual suggests than there are those like me that say the engine was already broke in by Dodge, drive it like you stole it. Just do what you think is best and enjoy the Cat, as Americans, we worry a lot, I know I do, particularly being an engineer, just gets tiring to worry and worry and worry, just try to have fun with it.

me too, lets talk about this every three months for the next 6 years. Same topic, same responses, it seams, no one can use the search engine or cares too. This is why some of the old guys here no longer post, it is becoming nothing more the recycled material.

Read the myriad of other break-in threads. That topic is almost as beaten to death as "which oil should I use?"

No, you did no harm at all. I have never followed a break-in procedure on any high performance car or motorcycle (except a Ducati because they have a specific valve seating issue), and have never had a single issue as a result.

It was made to drive like this from the first key turn. Break-in is a myth. It's written into owner's manuals by the attorneys to cover the company's ass.

I roasted the tires leaving the dealership then I took it easy (most of the tomes) for 500 miles.
