I've had my Hellcat for one week and I only have 247 miles, trying to get to the 500 mile milestone. Keeping the 'Cat 55 mph or less is already wearing on me. I know, I'm an old fart and I don't really drive that much anyway. Until the Hellcat, I only drove about 150 miles a week (excludes monthly 360 mi (one-way) trips to FL) , and that includes driving four other cars to keep them mechanically sound.
As an aside, given the 55 mph limit, I am not going to driver on the interstate, until I can go 85+ mph.
At the rate I am going, it will be 2 months before I get to 1,500 miles.
    A couple of questions:
!. How important is it to follow the prescribed break-in process?
    2. Why the hellcat didn't Dodge run these cars through the break-in before delivery?

I would like to hear your experiences with breaking in your Hellcat.

I drove her like I stole her from day one. I have put 4500 miles on her since March and no issues(knock on wood). She begs to be driven and fast.

You need to move out west. We just did 2400 miles in 8 days. Southern Utah to Yellowstone & Big Horn Mtns. in Wyoming. Speed limits are 80, you can run 90 with no problems.
    BTW, I'm old too.

Drove mine home from the dealer, about 350 miles. I had the cruise set on 79 on I75.

Why don't you just pick a destination 125 miles away and do a round trip? Out here, 125 miles is like going to the grocery store and back, break in solved and over. :D

My car had 9 miles upon delivery. It was in boost and over 100 mph before it had 10 miles on the odometer.

Each motor is dyno tested from the factory... So the break in procedure is a waste of time IMHO, especially since you have a warranty...

I broke mine in by the book. No issues at all. No anti-freeze leaks, oil consumption, rear end leaks, radiator leaks, SC anti-freeze leaks, CEL's, engine starting issues, nothing. You decide.

I didn't do a break in by the book.....same results.

Checking under the hood daily. Very little blow by in my JLT catch can....surprisingly with the way I drive, no oil consumption or leaks....

My car was built on a Tuesday, so I'm assuming that's why i haven't had issues...ha!

I followed break in by the book. Still going fairly easy on it at 1300 miles/1 month. I "goose it" from time to time and have gotten it to 100 twice.Top RPM's have been up to 5K once or twice. Otherwise, I haven't run it very hard....yet;)

I have not had a single issue. Even the HK sounds great. And my car was built on April Fool's Day.

I'm probably going your route. I don't won't to take any chances. I'm old and I got time, but this is driving me hellcat crazy.

I'm old too... old enough to know that I'd be a death trap driving at 55 on the interstate.

I found it took some time to get a real good feel for my HC. So not only is the break in procedure recommended for the HC, it also gives you some time at lower speeds to get a good feel for the car overall.
