Can anyone explain the "stealthy" or "under the radar" thing to me?

I have to admit, I don't get it at all. Why would you buy one of the baddest cars on the planet, and want to hide what it is by changing its appearance? I'm going to ask in general too, why with any high performance vehicle, you want to disguise it? Normal people who have no interest won't care one way or the other, car people will know by other visual cues or sounds and cops will pop you no matter what it looks like if you are breaking the law. So why the big deal on going stealthy?

Nite...probably based on one's personality and age.I myself like the stealthy look. Better for lurking in the "jungle", going unnoticed and not having every kid in the neighborhood with a "rice burner" wanting to GO. There is something satisfying about knowing you have 707 "friends" under the hood incognito. A car that shouts..."hey look at me" will sometimes attract unwanted attention...from police and those who may wish it harm. How does one make an Ivory HC (mine) stealthy?.....Paint the rear spoiler the same color as the car, remove HC cats head on fenders, and go with retro brushed wheels. Don't mess with the hood. Perhaps in my younger days, I would have "jazzed" it up a bit. At 58, more attention means more headaches. I do look forward to sharing it with friends, family, neighbors and those who know what a HC is. I will NOT be going to the track, do burnouts in the neighborhood or cruise the local High Schools:eek:. Unfortunately, if you have a nice car, some idiots will mess with it just for kicks. Most likely, when my cat arrives in 2 weeks, I will leave it stock for a while, and then decide if I want to"dumb it down"...LOL

Ok, the crime aspect, I get that and that is a very valid reason to me. Yeah, the kids and ricers are annoying, but keep ignoring them and after a while, they will stop pestering your car to go as they know that particular car never gets in it with them. I appreciate your input. It's helping me wrap my head around it a bit.

Thanks.....If anyone here has had something nice in the past that some "evil doer" has messed with, one has a tendency to get nervous a bit. Door dings and shopping cart contacts can happen to anyone ..stealthy or not. It is the inconsiderate bastards that want to mess with it for kicks. My cat will be in the garage when not in use...locked up tight at night. I will also be Very aware of my surroundings when parking it and the "clientele" that may come across my HC. The police here are pretty good and some really appreciate high performance cars...but if you are breaking the speed limit, you get what you get.

Well, so maybe a Klingon Warship might be after you or something like that! What do you expect? Wouldn't you want to be stealthy?

It's kinda cool how many people think it's a "Challenger" and never heard of Hellcat. I block blitz the little rice burners all the time it's so fun to see the faces they make in my rear view. All the number badges and flames and stuff that's just visual only gets me unwanted attention and no extra horses.

Yep; the Hellcat emblems are sick, but that's the problem. Too much of a 'trophy' for those with no respect.

Buddy of mine bought a 2007 B5 Super Bee Charger and within weeks some dickhead removed the "Bee" emblem from the fender in a rather crude fashion with a sharp metal tool, scratching the paint to bare metal and leaving two deep gouges in the fender.

Made me sick to my stomach to see that.

Yep...I can see some morons "collecting" the HC badging on the fenders. Doubt if they will use lube and dental floss.
