Many thanks RS. I know it states cars built prior to the 9th January. Could you get a definitive VIN number so that I can check if my HC requires the update. I reckon it would be close. Thank you

Will we get a "recall" notice or do we just have to go by our dealer to get this update? Or is it something we can do ourselves like we did with the UConnect update?

Not a recall. you will not be notified. Just a service bulletin. your dealer will perform this update.

This is a symptom based repair. No symptoms = repair not required.

    Thanks for the info RS.
So this brings a few questions to the table
1 why all cars are not effected
2 Are these cars from a certain group, maybe the one's in lock down for a few months
3 what changed if this is a new problem
4 does this effect only the Hellcat or all A8 SRT vehicles

Educated guess...Cars built after Jan 9th are either flashed with the update at the factory or getting the revised software.

Two different updates. You can do the UConnect yourself for the software, but the recall has to be done by the dealer. I have done both on my car. Different recall for mine though, I have manual transmission.

The A8 is a ZF transmission, I have no doubts that as wear & mileage increases there will be issues that pop up to be remedied with software. I have been down this road with Mercedes & BMW many many times.

With the kind of power figures the hellcat produces I am sure the A8 is quite the robust unit mechanically. Software upgrades anymore are common practice.
