I ran a search for similar threads, but couldn't find anything so I figured I would ask the community.

I was talking with a local salesman on the highway after some spirited driving and he brought up a potential issue that surprised me. He informed me of two incidents, not sure if they were first hand experiences, of the hoods releasing above 160mph. I drive a 392, and the salesman was in the same.

So it is well known that the HC community has extensive experience with the DS failing. Anyone out there have experience with the hood latch failing at high speeds?

I don't think it's happened - both latches would have to fail for it to totally come up....

If this has happened, I have not heard or read anything about it.

I had an experience with another car I owned which had a carbon fiber custom hood. I will NEVER put another carbon fiber hood on any car I own.

oh great! O just bought one.

so why wont you use a carbon fiber hood? it it fly up because the bolts pulled out where the latch goes?

Im installing hood pins to take care of any issues with the latch on the carbon fiber hood.

I seriously doubt a stock hood flew up like youve been told. if it happened thered be a recall FAST

Yea, I had hood pins and the damn hood pulled the latch and pins loose and slammed into the windshield. The wife was with and someone in the car screamed real loud. To this day I don't know if it was me or her. :)

Urban legend or not, you all think a set of hood pins would look good?

I really like the look but beware even the high dollar pin sets have issues with rust on some parts. Had a set on a car in the 90s and the ring and cable rusted. Also got cable rash on paint.

It is all personal taste. I do not care for the look, myself, but to those that do, I say rock it out! :)

If it happened it would be due to the hood not being properly closed.

I had the stick on hood pins on my 09 and liked the looks . Thinking they may look good on PCP hood also.
