Charger Hellcat insurance cost

    So back in October/November when I started researching the Charger Hellcat, I got a quote on insurance. Since the insurance companies didn't even know it existed yet, I gave them a VIN for a Challenger Hellcat for ballpark figures, and the quote was completely acceptable. A few weeks ago when my Charger neared delivery, I called to get final insurance numbers for it, and it was significantly more expensive than the original (Challenger) quote. I figured that if anything, the Charger would be less. Not so! Is everyone that has taken delivery of the Charger experiencing the same thing? Those of you that have both a Charger and a Challenger, do you pay more for the Charger? Once thing I found interesting is that the underwriter for the classic/exotic/toy/race car insurance company that I have worked with in the past will not insure a Charger HC. They have no problem with the Challenger, but they see the Charger as a daily driver with insane power, which to them is a lot more risky than a pony car that gets driven only on the weekends. Apparently it doesn't matter if I only want to drive the Charger on nice days.

    It's hard to tell for us since I got a ticket (first in 8+ years) around 2 months before taking delivery of the Challenger. Once we get paperwork in for her Charger I'll be able to differentiate between the two. I don't think it was much more than the 2010 SRT8 Challenger she previously had.

    We use Nationwide and have multi-car discount and a discount for having homeowner's insurance through them too. Full coverage.

    Progressive Insurance, no agent, $369/6 months for the Charger Hellcat. Multi-car ('08 Jeep SRT8 and '11 Nissan Maxima) with a speeding ticket on the Maxima last year.

    It will all be different depending on where you live, your driving record, age, thefts in that area, etc etc.

    I called my insurance agent (Allstate) and gave them a VIN of a Charger Hellcat that was in transit I found on the internet at a local dealer (car was sold already).
    She called me back and told me my rates would go up $98 every six months ($196 a year) compared to my 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie CC 4x4.
    Considering my truck was $52k MSRP and the Charger Hellcat is $65k and has 700+ hp compared to roughly 400, that wasn't bad at all.
    And she DID know it was a Hellcat, she even commended on the cool car name.

    I'm with State Farm and HC Challenger went up $49 every 6 months over my 2013 SRT 8 Challenger. Not bad till you pay the premium for both of them. ;)

    I used to live in CA. The best thing i ever did was leave that state.
    Insurance 1/2 of what it was. Tags for licence plates for the cars & truck 1/4 of what they were in CA.
    Tags for my motorcycle $25.00 a year

    Have you checked with Grundy. I have my HC Challenger as a collector car with them. I do not know if they will consider the HC Charger the same as the Charger.

    I ran into the same problem asking my insuarnce company for a quote on a Challenger HC. They didn't have any info in the system for it. Instead, I asked for a quote for a new Viper, just for comparison. It was only slightly more than my '13 SRT8 Charger.
