Isn't the Charger Hellcat NHRA certified to do the 1/4 mile in 11.0 flat??? That beats the Tesla's time in the video. Again, just because this particular media outlet didn't have a good driver in the Hellcat doesn't really make the Tesla faster. I love how all the Tesla people shout from the mountain tops when they happen to win one particular race.
I did enjoy the video, though, and I agree (obviously) the Hellcat is the better overall experience.
This wasn't a good 1/4 mile attempt, by the Charger. However, it still won, overall, due to it's superiority in other areas, (not to mention its intoxicating growl!!!)
I don't know who the driver was and what they did to the tires, but put some stickier tires on and it will destroy the Tesla everytime. Engadget is brutal at reporting anything that is Elon Musk, Tesla as the Holy Grail!!
Went out with two 200 pound guys again today. This time D/A was 1250' pavement was slick, 59 degrees out, but the Cat turns an 11.3/124 mph. You google that in the HP calculators based on weight and these cars are capable of rocking the world. I say BS on the high 11's. I saw that somewhere else and already vomited on it a couple of days ago. I will say it again, bring one of them on, anytime anywhere.
They're both awesome I'd own both. But my draw to each is different so I don't compare them to each other. Speed king matters not to me. Hellcats will be surpassed, so will the Tesla. I'm happy with the Hellcat stock and it's apparant potential. Likely my last hot rod so being content in my decision feels good.
