I took the car in today and apparently that means the oil level is low. So it is topped off now. I will check it again in two weeks to get a baseline on how quickly it is burning through the oil. I am wondering if maybe it wasn't properly filled when I picked it up. Hmm..

how low was it? it would need to be extremely low to affect oil pressure.

Gen 5 Vipers have reported to go through some oil during break in...

I'd check the oil every fill up for the first 2k miles. How many quarts low were you?

I fill up twice a week and don't check very often. Clearly I need to check more often, never used to having to check that often.

Some Chrysler staff and maintenance staff came to Hawaii this week and what was passed to the service dept in regards to oil was for the first 5k miles the rate of oil consumption is about a quart every 1k miles. FYI.
Mine went through 2 quarts in 4 days, getting looked at now.

Re the staff comments, if they shared factual info, to me following oe break in guidelines makes sense. And warming up the engine before you get on it.

1 Quart of oil being consumed every 1000 miles is by no means normal imho ! that's just the b.s. guidelines every mfg goes by for warranty purposes. 2 quarts in 4 days  Houston we have a problem!........ very interested to see what they find for you man and hope its nothing too serious! :(

I've only had to put in 1/2 quart. At 4500 miles.
