Today Chevrolet announced the "1LE" package for the 2017 Camaro. This is the handling package that basically made a SS look like and drive like a ZL1 without the blown V8. Well, Chevy announced that it will be offered on the V6 and the V8 Camaros. That's not really the interesting part, they also announced with this package you can get a flat black hood with it for the first time (Made by vinyl wrapping the hood). The cover picture they put out is of a bright green camaro with the flat black hood. Remind you of a publicity car of recent? The resemblance is uncanny.

Instead of complaining about a"copycat" paint and wrap, we should be complaining about Mopar lacking of an affordable track car like this 1LE and GT350..

I think the 1le 5th gen camaros came with a flat black hood years ago.

They did and I did not know that before I posted this. 2 people in my area have 1 LE Camaros and both have body color hoods. But to debut this option they decided to paint it green with a flat black hood? come on, its a bit of a copycat scenario

The GT350 is nearly the same cost as the Hellcat. If your waiting for a Challenger road racing version I wouldn't hold your breath. The car is too big and heavy, although I would love to see a T/A version of the Challenger but I don't think that will happen because I don't think Dodge could beat the mustang at its own game with the size of the Challenger.

They had that green color a few years ago. If they had not come out with the black hood first I would agree with you
    on the copy cat stuff.

I understand his point and OP acknowledged the camaro had the blacked out hood first.

You nailed it...too much weight. The good and the bad of the LX / LC platform is the weight...drives and handles like a big car, has a luxury feel (after all it was designed with a lot of Mercedes influence... and many years ago in platform years...first sold as a 2005 model). IMO it was inconceivable at that time that it would ever evolve into a 700+ hp. model. And, obviously, it pretty well takes 700 hp to compensate and compete (in a straight line) carrying that much weight.
None the less, for me, I would not trade my 4 various SRT's for eight of those other brands. :)

I think we all know the next rendition will be lighter... but...but...to what extent will it be a Dodge and what extent will it be a Fiat? ;)

T/A Challenger and AAR Cuda had flat black hoods in 1970. Also Sixpack Road Runner in 1969. And the lime green. Who copied who?

Are you really going back that far? There were no 1LEs back then. Let's say Chevy brought the black hoods back first.

You made my point but came to the wrong conclusion. The whole Mustang, Camaro and Challenger resurgence is because of the 60's and 70's muscle car era. Dodge was late to get back in but it is still copied from Dodge.
