Gents, I've tried to do my research and read previous threads on this topic. Long story short I need 2 new rear tires. Part of me since I don't have much knowledge on the topic is telling me to re-buy the same OEM Summer tires. But then the other part of me wants the better tire, if it happens to be the 305/35/20 set up that I see alot out there now.

For those who have purchased the 305/35/20 set up where did you get your Nitto 555r?
For those who have purchased the 305/35/20 set up where did you get your MT Comp Tire?

I found some MT's but unsure if this is that tire that everyone is talking about?
Mickey Thompson Mustang Street Comp Tire - 305/35-20 90000020062 (05-16 All) - Free Shipping

I only plan to use the tire for Street for the time being, btw. Help greatly appreciated.

555R is a drag radial. Others mentioned are street tires. The other drag radial mentioned before was the MT ET street SS.

The MTs can't be driven in the rain, and people have said that they got very short treadlife from them. The Nittos CAN be driven in the rain (I just did so last night), and they have longer treadlife.

I run the 305/35/20 on stock wheels

Have you upgraded your DS? And how long does the tread life supposedly last?

What do you have as your fronts?

You really should be checking out the numerous DR threads in the tire section, all of this has been extensively covered. Here's one: If you're daily driving on Drag radials, step in here >>>>

I did not upgrade my DS because I'm not racing on a prepped surface. I only drive on the street. Tread life is as good or better than stock P-Zeros from all reports. I'm running stock P-Zero summer tires up front.

    FinallySat,

Im in SD as well. Just upgraded to the Nitto 555r in 305s on stock rims--couldn't be more satisfied. Btw, I had mine installed at San Diego Wheel and Tire Depot in Kearny Mesa. They did an awesome job (done in 30 mins and no scratches on these fragile-painted rims)! $50 (with mil discount).

I like the irony between op's name and op's post. Hehehe

Although, I'm in the same boat.

Probably just going to go with an oe tire for now. 3,000miles out of the rears, not so bad, and I find myself hitting higher speeds on occasion.

You chewed them up far too fast because they're spinning so much. DR's would be better for you. I got 6k miles out of mine (though they needed to be changed at 5k) because even after you're already going, when you floor it, the tires spin. I have about 3k on my Nitto DRs and they still look fantastic and grip well.

You got 6k miles out of your DRs? If that's all they last for street use then I may opt for another tire.

Most people are lucky to get 3-5k miles on drag radials or any competition tire for that matter.

maybe not on the track, but as a DD they last longer than 5K...that's for sure...try 10-15K and you'll still have more traction than stock

The guys that I talk to when I'm putting them on tell me 3-5. I guess it depends on how hard you drive it daily haha.
