I thought my coolant was purple from the factory, but I don't remember if both the radiator and intercooler coolant was the same color. Can someone clear this up for me?

Mine are both pinkish colored now....ever since the radiator replacement. Did they use the wrong stuff....are there different colors of the right stuff?

I believe it was posted that the orange and purple are not compatable. Even if they swapped, I find it hard to believe that they got all the old coolant out.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Maintenance information and schedules

Chrysler Corporation LLC. has released a new engine coolant for 2013 model year vehicles and beyond.

    Mopar Antifreeze/Coolant 10-year/150,000 mile formula
    p/n 68163848AA (concentrate) / p/n 68163849AA (50/50 mixture)
    MSRP $53.35/gallon (concentrate) / MSRP $33.35/gallon (50/50 mixture)

The use of aluminum cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, and water pumps requires special corrosion protection. Mopar® Antifreeze/Coolant, or the equivalent ethylene-glycol base coolant with organic corrosion inhibitors (called OAT, for Organic Additive Technology) is recommended. This coolant offers the best engine cooling without corrosion when mixed with 50% ethylene-glycol and 50% distilled water to obtain a freeze point of -37°C (-35°F). If it loses color or becomes contaminated, drain, flush, and replace with fresh properly mixed coolant solution.

    Notes and cautions:

The recommended mixture is 50/50 ethylene-glycol and water. Never use pure antifreeze.

Do not change the thermostat for summer or winter operation. If replacement is ever necessary, install ONLY the correct type thermostat. Other designs may result in unsatisfactory cooling performance, poor gas mileage, and increased emissions.

OAT coolant is purple in color. It cannot be mixed with other types of coolant including Chrysler's existing HOAT coolant and only should only be mixed with approved OAT coolant of the same color. Maintenance of the cooling system is not required unless a repair has been made with loss of coolant or the coolant has been contaminated.

CAUTION: Mixing of engine coolant (antifreeze) other than specified Organic Additive Technology (OAT) engine coolant (antifreeze), may result in engine damage and may decrease corrosion protection. Organic Additive Technology (OAT) engine coolant is different and should not be mixed with Hybrid Organic Additive Technology (HOAT) engine coolant (antifreeze). If a non-OAT engine coolant (antifreeze) is introduced into the cooling system in an emergency, it should be replaced with the specified engine coolant (antifreeze) as soon as possible.

CAUTION: Do not use coolant additives that are claimed to improve engine cooling.

Mine are both purple...1,000 miles and no radiator replacement.
Ran into a guy this week that had to change out the power steering system. Almost 30 days in the shop. Said the dealer called him and asked if he had put ATF or the wrong fluid in the system. The only person who ever serviced that car was the dealer doing the 1st oil change but the wrong fluid caused the damage.
After my flat tire experience and the fact that no dealer in my area has a machine or will take the risk to change a Hellcat tire I think some techs and dealers may have a learning curve when it comes to these cars being so few around? Both my local dealers told me they have only serviced 4-6 Hellcats and one is a Viper dealer.

I would think that since both are the same color its ok because no need to drain intercooler system to do the radiator right?

When my radiator was leaking, it appeared like pink with slight purple, like lavender.

Thank you! Why didn't I think of that? (headsmack)

The PN of the coolant used is 68163849AA.

I looked it up and thats the right PN. I wonder if they topped it off with the wrong stuff since it was back for more coolant 3 times.

image.jpeg 15000 miles and mine looks like this, kind of pink murky trending to brown. 12/14 build and the radiator was replaced under warranty because of a leak I believe a while ago .

Mines Purple... and yes it's the same coolant for the IC and the cooling system. I bought a gallon from the dealer! The local parts stores I've been to didn't carry it... yet?
