So I have a dilemma on my 392. I've had a Corsa Xtreme catback installed for about 3K miles and I thought it would get a little bit louder under normal daily driving, but it's really only loud on WOT. I was thinking of taking to my local exhaust shop and having them remove the big bullet style resonators and weld in some straight pipe. I know it will probably introduce a little bit of drone, but it might be livable.

Would anyone have experience with this or have any advice? Thanks!

I just got my resonators and mufflers removed from the stock exhaust set up and I'm pleased with the sound. Later in the year I will be installing a Borla ATAK exhaust.

I was thinking about doing a mid muffler delete. Listened to a few videos on YouTube and it sounds pretty beefy. Louder on start up and acceleration. Slightly louder on cruise, but not crazy loud. No drone.

Do you have any videos or can you upload one?

You need to have someone drive your car while you stand outside and listen. The Corsa is quiet on the inside due to design while the outside roars. I have it on my 2013 SRT stroker and am very happy.

For sure it definitely sounds great, but to me it just doesn't sound like the old school muscle I've come to enjoy from my last two SRT's exhaust setups...it's almost European V8ish. I just want something a little louder cruising around without having to mash it before I can really hear it.

The reso and muffler delete on the stock exhaust was a little loud for what I wanted, but it sounded pretty amazing! I hate to cut up an expensive Corsa exhaust, but I've heard some videos with just the Corsa mufflers and the big bullet resonators removed and it sounded pretty good.

    1) Get a header
2)Still using active exhaust? Could be quieting it. I've seen people use the simulators to keep the valves open all the time.

    wait,
what simulators keep the valves open all the time??
Unless magic happened and Albert Einstein was called back from the dead to clear up a final physics mystery, no one has created a device that will keep the valves open all the time,
from what I've seen the three options are:
1 cut the valves and associated exhaust pipe out of the system, replace that short section on each side with straight pipe, and then hang the valves in free air along side the exhaust.
2 use flowmasters exhaust pipe mounted spring simulator thing which has gotten bad reviews, its a spring sitting in a little steel cup thing that is supposed to fool the valve motor that it is actually rotating a real valve. this still requires having straight exhaust in that area, so hanging the stock valves under the car with the wires still attatched is a better option than the spring.
    3. Borla reportedly has another valve spring simulator but they don't advertise or put photos up of the device so we can only assume its basically the same as the flowmaster setup.
    oh yeah option four
cut the valves out disconnect the wires and put a piece of black tape over the code error that will be on the dash.

I'm currently running a borla stype exhaust w/active valve. I installed my header and man it sounds way louder. I believe a guy on another forum sells a kit, picture attached. You can also YouTube it search "active exhaust delete". Just an option for you.

I was going to do headers, but at almost 3 grand installed and tuned it's a lot more than I'm willing to spend for 15-20 RWHP and getting more sound from the exhaust.

I ended up having the resonators cut out of my Corsa Xtreme catback and having straight stainless pipe welded in place of them. It sounds perfect now...for what I was looking for anyways. I haven't heard any drone on the highway either. The only time I've noticed any drone was keeping the car in street mode and I'm very easy on the gas. Other than that it sounds great! A little loud on cold start at 6am, but they'll get over it :D

MaxxMuscle no codes. Borla exhaust has active valves just like oem and I used vibrant defoulers on the header.
