I took mine out for a stroll today and found this white one with brass monkey's parked on the next street. Turns out the high school kid borrowed it from his dad. The dad was smart enough to give him the black key. This is the first time I have seen another one on the road, and it was on the next street!

Lucky kid ... my kid would know to not even ask. And only GOD would be able to protect him/her from me if he/she ever took the car without asking. If the power of the car did not injure the kid, I would injure the kid.

Cool dad but most teenagers aren't mature enough or have enough experience to handle a high horse powered machine as these. Letting a teenager behind the wheel of one of these beast unsupervised is like playing Russian roulette with not only there lives but everyone else on the road too.
I rather be cautious and protective than be and cool fatherless.

I hope and pray he has the experience and maturity for this beast.

I consider myself very lucky that I did not have access to a muscle car when I was a teenager...

    CNYHC,
I totally agree with you because if I did have a fast car i can't honestly say I would have lived long enough to see adult hood.

My 17 year old son has driven mine with the red key. He was scared to death because he knew he would be in deep crap if he screwed up. No harm done but he came back with a smile on his face!

I got into enough trouble in my '66 Corvair M4 (of all things).... I got my first speeding ticket the day after I got my driver's license. I had learned a lot by the time I bought the Porsche 914-2 in '73...(my avatar photo). That was a fine handling car, especially with the Michelin XWX tires.

That's great Top Cat and I agree with you that there are some that are mature enough and I im sure with your and Linda's experience y'all have properly taught your daughter how to drive and to handle this beast unfortunately there's a lot of parents out there that don't.
In my profession I see way to many parents give sports cars to first time drivers and it usually doesn't end well.

And as far as we know this teenager might have both the experience and maturity. You all stay safe out there and Happy Thanksgiving!
