My car has 35 miles on it and has been dead in the garage for a week with either a bad battery or alternator. I have an appointment at the dealer in the morning. My question to the members is would you set up the valet mode to drop it at the dealer?? All that keeps running thru my mind is Ferris Buellers day off! fbdo.jpg

I would just give them the black key really there is no reason they should test drive it. the alternator test is performed at idle and no need to run the car to check the battery. Probably left something on and there is a bad cell in the battery

In valet if battery is disconnected it goes out of valet so don't bother

To top it off I didn't buy the car from them. Bought it out of state. I have got heart burn about this.

Do you have a volt meter? What does it read? Do you have a big boy bat tree charger?

I had it on the big boy charger. I had it on a trickle charger. But once it has no charger hooked up it just "clicks the starter" when you push the button. I heard another member tell me he had a loose ground on the back of the motor and he went thru two alternators before they figured it out at the dealer.

okay you're not helping me here. What does a volt meter read if you have one with charger not connected?. If not go get one as you will use it. Does the car start jumped ? Does it stay running w/o charger on? If so what does voltmeter say?

I dont have a volt meter but it was saying 14 when I started it and took the jump off. It did show a check engine light a few days ago when I started it via charger. It does stay running once started.

I think a batter disconnect disables valet mode so if your car keeps dying it isn't going to matter. Tell them you will give them the red key as long as they fix it right the firs time (and fast) LOL
