Kind of embarrassed to ask a such a sill question, but my reason has merit.

The good news is my dealer informed me that they fully expect to enter my order before the end of the year.

The bad news is the car most likely will arrive right smack in the middle of winter -------- and for anyone who lives in the Northeast you know how bad that can be! ----------- OUCH !!!

Once the order has been placed and a VIN established, is it possible for the dealer to put a temporary hold on the order?

The obvious reason would be to delay the building process as to time the delivery for the Spring.

I considered giving up my allocation position and waiting for a March allocation; but, that would be wishful thinking and risky !!

    Thank you!

Don't delay your order, allocations most likely will not tolerate a delay and they expire. Secure your car and make arrangements for storage for a couple of months somewhere near dealer.

Go for it...Do you have a garage to put your Cat in? If the car comes in winter, get it home and on the first nice day wash it down and wait for spring. It's a car...It won't melt in the snow...or rain... Enjoy it. On a really nice day get out and enjoy it...You will be glad you did... Don't wait... You don't want to miss your opportunity.

Consider working a deal with the dealer to show case it on main floor.
I've got a great relationship with them, mine was on floor, behind velvet ropes for about two months. Dealer gets a "draw" and I get climate controlled storage..

Thank you all, I needed your consensus and you're 100% correct whereas I waited too long to get this opportunity and a delay could be a big mistake.

What I will do then is have it flat bedded to my home because the roads will most certainly be salted --------- and yes I have a heated and humidity controlled garage.

    Thank you again !

    1) No way you should delay, if memory serves me you have been waiting a very long time for this car.
    2) Get a covered trailer, and drop her gently right into your garage.
    3) Spend time with her in the garage until the spring and then drive the heck out it!

All will be good my friend you will never regret it.

so what happens if the car is delivered in the winter? Do they go bad?

come on man! seriously. do you really think getting snowed on in a transport or a single ride home is going to kill the car?

I was in the same boat as you. I took an October allocation and was hoping I would get the car in the spring, but they are churning them out and I got it in November. I found a local guy with an enclosed trailer and had it transported. It was only 2 hours from my house but didn't want to chance the weather.
