Any ideas?

Wouldn't be a good idea to go 180+ with front runners. I would want speed rated tires on all four corners. No reason it shouldn't exceed 200 easily.

Its a drag car. Kind of irrelevant really. Thought i heard 160 something though.

I went 177 in the standing mi with 707 in 6th....

840hp in 7th with the 309 should go 190s in the mile with the proper speed rated tires.

with 2.62s car shifts to 7th at 195mph....I know this from the charts and personal experience based on equipment external to the car so no speedo error from tire growth. Horsepower will not change this....this being shift points. Now will more HP still pull past 7th gear??? I don't know but I don't think so. I think it will just get you there faster. I'm keeping the 2.62s for the next Kennedy Space Center run in the fall but the HP is going way up. It should be interesting.

Table for 2.62s.

1st -- 4.714 x 2.62 = 12.351 ( x 336 = 4,149 ) = 41.5 MPH @ 6000 -- 42.8 MPH @ 6200
2nd -- 3.143 x 2.62 = 8.235 ( x 336 = 2,766 ) = 62.3 MPH @ 6000 -- 64.3 MPH @ 6200
3rd -- 2.106 x 2.62 = 5.518 ( x 336 = 1,854 ) = 92.9 MPH @ 6000 -- 95.9 MPH @ 6200
4th -- 1.667 x 2.62 = 4.368 ( x 336 = 1,467 ) = 117.3 MPH @ 6000 -- 121.29 MPH @ 6200
5th -- 1.285 x 2.62 = 3.367 ( x 336 = 1,131 ) = 152.2 MPH @ 6000 -- 157.32 MPH @ 6200
6th -- 1.000 x 2.62 = 2.620 ( x 336 = 880 ) = 195.6 MPH @ 6000 -- 202.20 MPH @ 6200
7th -- 0.839 x 2.62 = 2.198 ( x 336 = 738 ) = 233.3 MPH @ 6000 -- 241.11 MPH @ 6200 ( we're past the aero limit here )
Then we enter driving in a vacuum land :)
8th -- 0.667 x 2.62 = 1.748 ( x 336 = 587 ) = 293.3 MPH @ 6000 -- 303.13MPH @ 6200

TCM tuning becomes very interesting for high speed events in stock HP cars....or even cars with more power. Imagine staying in 6th gear (2.62s) at 6500 RPM...... Well over 200mph.

#13 ·
Nailed it....3.09s top out at 165.8mph in 6th gear then you are in 7th until 197mph assuming you make that far being 6th is the one to one gear. That is why I am keeping the 2.62s in my car.

EDIT that is on hellcat 275 tires. I suspect the 315 height is very similar though.
U will top out in the 190ish with the 3.09's because u have the tires rated for that speed!!

Well that's 3 minutes of wasted reading I can't get back......

It took you 3 minutes to read that?

Just watch Kiniskis say that 168 due to tire design. I wonder if they limit the car in any way to keep from exceeding limits of tires!

Who cares what the top speed is???? Are you personally buying this 1/4 mile built track car to run it at the mile events? 98% of the buyers of this car or even a hellcat in general, will not be looking to test out the top speed.

So many people with so many questions that really aren't even going to buy this car. It's like roaches coming out at night now that the Demon has been reviled.

Agreed. The Charger bone stock has a verified 204MPH two-way averaged top speed. I'll never see that and honestly don't want to try. No access to a high-speed oval and I value my life.

It's nice to boast what it will do but top speed discussions are mostly irrelevant IMHO.

Actually, I very much cared what the top speed of the Demon was...

And specifically, I cared what was the limiting factor, for example was it the speed rating on the tires that caused a arbitrary PCM limit.

The best information is that the "other" PCM was not limited, so with the appropriate (Y) rated tires, then what is the aero-limited top speed...

:)

This Demon will be a 1/2 Mile Killer, with a few upgrades. I'm in!! As far as a Mile car, if the Cd is better than the Hellcat, it's going to be a mile runner, as well. You have to have speed rated tires for the mile, anyway. So, the worst case scenario means an ecu reprogramming is in order, which is going to happen anyway.

While I still care what the Demon's top speed is, I'm pretty much on a path to play with what I've got...

I don't have budget to chase a Demon right now and it has no chance of being the casual weekend GT car that I also enjoy within the HC.

While I admit that we don't actually get there in a Standing Mile event, or even the two mile event down at the KSC, the number is relevant and proportional to the events that we participate in.

And the guys that did the two mile event got damn close, those last few mph come on pretty slow...

And as for how many people do this, the events down in Texas sell out each time, the event up here in Colorado didn't but it came close and it's a relatively new thing up here. There are more and more events all throughout the country too...

What does the tire speed rating matter? Plenty of cars have tires rated for less than the car is capable of. Likewise with the speedo. Ive had cars with 140mph speedos that could barely hit 115 mph. I've also had cars with 85mph speedos that would do 120 plus... Both arguments invalid IMO...
