A local area dealership calls me today. (By local I mean 2 hours away. That seems local when dealing with a Hellcat find.) Says I can order one, but it must be M6 and cannot be black or sublime. ADM @ $5k. I am saddened by the color until I remember B5, so I choose B5. We go through the pleasantries, deposit down, etc..

Then he says, "One more thing we'll need, which is weird and I've never seen another manufacturer do this. But can you write us a couple paragraphs as to why you should own a Hellcat?"

At this point, I'd probably write a novel if it means I don't pay $30K over MSRP on these cars. I'm just amused and am wondering if anyone else is getting this same question? He said it has to do with making sure the order is for real, or something like that. I mean, I don't really mind and I sought these guys out a couple of months ago, so I appreciate them coming back to me.

I wrote a big email like that before this essay/letter crap surfaced. Sent it to Tim K. Never responded. Included photos of all the Chrysler products over the years.

Would I do it at this point in the model year? Hell no!

    Paragragh 1:
Build my car. If my money isn't good, then FO

    Paragragh 2:
    Reread paragraph 1

I wouldn't do it, that's nuts. Sounds like somebody has decided they get to choose among the contestants who is the most deserving of a Hellcat based on their story. Or on the other hand I'd play the game to a T, and write the most heart breaking compelling lie of cancer surviving and bucket lists.....

Dealers/reps were using it at one point in an attempt to convince their rep to give them an allocation.

My dealer wanted me to write one and I did it. I figured it couldn't hurt my odds, but it wound up being a complete waste of time/effort. I even scanned & attached it to an email to Tim K at one point; never heard from Tim K, but I did finally get an email from Jeff at SRT Customer Service after I already found a car on a lot that I could switch to a manual for better odds. Of course, that would have been hard being as I ordered a Charger! All it told me was they didn't even bother to read the email or letter.

Definitely sounds odd if they are already promised one of these special M6 allocations.

Writing an essay sounds weird lol. Also, I would shop around, seems a lot of dealers just picked up allocations for six speeds, no ADM.

I might be able to help you out with a sublime 6spd. My dealer switched on me and I not sure if I'm going to take it.

I'm so tempted to create a "colorful" story out of your alphabet break down there. I will refrain and embody the "older more responsible me" that I swore to my wife that I'd become if she'd just let me buy a Hellcat.:D:D:D

    Yes they were.

I wrote a note for the dealer to give to the area rep detailing my near 50 year history with Chrysler.

    It worked.
"Special Scheduling, Condition 2" is on my build sheet.
Vehicles with that on the build sheet have had someone with authority schedule the build.
My dealer had no allocation and was not likely going to get one.

Not saying it will work for everyone but it worked for me. Took 7 months but eventually the area rep came through.
