Any thoughts on FCA refusing engine warranty down the road because we have no proof of scheduled oil changes? If dealer does all scheduled work and the engine fails its on them. There product there maintenance.

I don't think there has been a valid case of a manufacture voiding warranty because you didn't get oil changed there. IF you REALLY neglected oil changes, engine failed etc, then a simple SOAP sample would probably be done by them and if they say "hey, oil came back, you haven't changed it in 45k miles, you're SOL", that would be a different story. I do my own oil changes when I can, I don't think you'd have a problem.

Follow the user manual, keep a detailed logbook and product receipts for everything and you shouldn't have an issue.

It doesn't happen very often that Chrysler questions oil changes for the failure of the motor unless it's 100% obvious it has been severely neglected. For example take the valve covers off and its full of sludge it obvious it wasn't kept up.

And if that does happen Chrysler will ask for receipts.

So best advice if you want to use another place for oil changes or do them yourself in the drive way get a folder and keep the receipts with a note of the miles and it should hold up.

Just keep all your receipts from oil and filter purchases over the years.

Create your own artifacts for work completed. I have receipts along with logging information. I also use the FCA owners site to log my oil changes. You can enter your own maintenance and adds notes as needed.

i keep receipts of oil and filters

i dont bother with a log since my car will be out of warranty before it gets 12,000 miles on it.....i doubt the engine will die from oil related issues with almost no miles......on my other vehicles i DO keep a log of when i change the oil though

Well, I cherish my 'Cat. The dealer will change the oil. I get to fuss (joking) at them while they do it. But I go an extra step, I will have an Oil Analysis done after each oil change. Maybe a little too much.

I do all my own maintenance, but I don't worry too much about keeping a log. I do keep receipts for a couple short years that the car is under warranty, but like Huggy said the warranty times out before the mileage ever hits.

Staying away from the dealer techs is akin to staying away from the hospital during cold and flu season. IMO, nothing good happens when you visit those places. :) I would much rather know things are done right and you can't beat spending quality time with your Hellcat.

My dealer has given us good service but I still change my own oil. I can change it faster than a trip to the dealer.
