Anybody have any inside scoop on what went on at the Vegas dealer meeting? Lots of happy faces? Constructive criticism maybe? Throwing shit?

I heard a few things from a dealer that attended today:

    1) Special edition Challenger Hellcat making 850 hp with viper wheels on the rear and fender flares. Was only shown briefly.
    2) Next Generation Charger looks like a 69 Charger but with 4 doors. Said it stole the show and looked amazing in B5 blue...
    3) Hellcat Grand Cherokee was there and will go on sale next summer
    4) Concept 'Cuda convertible was there in striker red and looked awesome. Retro-styled like a 70's version, 6" shorter than the Challenger.
    5) Concept Wagoneer looks similar to a Range Rover, larger than a Durango but smaller than a Chevy Tahoe
    6) Dodge will release a SRT Durango within a few months...no hellcat info yet

I wasn't there, this is just what I heard. Would be great to hear from someone that was there....

The only ones who would bring it up are the ones that weren't doing it. Deaf ear from SRT I bet.

Just send me more cars to get rich on! I mean who makes $20 to 30k profit on a car? FCA is a manufacturer, they build cars, they don't care what goes on after that. Not a lot of customer loyalty going around lately. Thought maybe 2016 would be different, but not starting out that way, SOS.

Porsche every other manufacturer is chasing them, about 28% profit per car (not the dealer), highest in the industry, most manufacturers are 6%-12%,

FCA cannot dictate the prices the dealers charge, due to anti-trust laws and regulations. Also, FCA can't charge different prices to different dealers. Look up "Restraint of Trade". FCA can set performance standards for dealers, but can't directly punish dealers for adding markup. Check with an attorney who deals in contract laws and the laws of commerce. Frustrating, yes, but a problem for virtually every manufacturer. It's good to have a place to vent.
Do you think the Federal Government should step in and set the maximum prices dealers can charge, over their invoice ? How would you handle used cars ?

When you come right down to it, and as much as we all hate to admit it, the customers are the ones who actually set the price. A dealer can ask anything they want to, but until a willing customer steps up and pays the price with ADM, no sale. The car is big money maker for a lot of dealers. It seems it takes an unusual dealer to walk away from that added profit and do the right thing by the customer.
