Question for those of you that already got your Hellcat. I'm a couple weeks out from my car being delivered and I was curious about this. Does the supercharger whine get annoying? In some videos you barely notice it, and in other videos it's super prominent. I think it sounds cool when in the videos it's really whining when at high RPMs. But is it that loud all the time, at low RPMs? I'm just curious.

It only bothers the cars your passing in a race!

But no at low speed or cruising it's not that loud.

I love the sound. Wish it was louder!

I don't notice it at all with my cruise control set at 70-80. The car has pretty good sound dampening and a good stereo. It shouldn't bother you.

On a side note, don't change your engine oil...it'll make your car louder!:rolleyes::rolleyes::eek:

The whine is dependent on its boost level. At low speed/RPM you're not generating much boost, thus you won't hear it much, if at all (e.g. trolling through a parking lot looking for a spot, driving through a residential neighborhood at 25-30mph, cruising at set speed). Really, the only time you'll hear it most is when you are pushing down that GO pedal.

comparing it to the 13 GT500 its much more pronounced....i replaced my intake tube on my gt500 (it has resonators inside it) with a smooth wall one to increase the whine.......the HC still has more.....the whine is good on the HC...you want to hear it

the exhaust i found annoying on the long ride home...it has a drone and you have to turn the radio up to cover it up....70-80mph at 1,200 rpms and you hear it droning

the sc whine is cool when you floor it, the exhaust is cool when you floor it

the drone when your going 1,200rpm is just annoying....but then again im getting old too

i only drove the car once, so i cant say.....i played w/ the power a tiny, tiny bit....enough to notice the whine is much more pronounced than my gt500

The supercharger whine is kind of like the exhaust sound. It IS the audio entertainment system on these cars, IMHO. On my Vipers and 2008 SRT Challenger, I've added Corsa Cat-Back systems to get even more of that sound! On any of my Vipers, I seriously doubt that the radio / sound system has been turned on for more than a total of 30 minutes in all of the years of ownership. On the SRT Challenger, I have used the sound system a little more, but generally only when stuck in a traffic jam. SRT has done it "better" on the Hellcat, but for my taste, I still want more and have been watching the exhaust valve control threads and exhaust cut-out threads closely with great enthusiasm. The supercharger whine is like frosting on the cake with sprinkles thrown in for good measure. If either the supercharger whine or exhaust drone are negative issues for you, or any other potential customer, perhaps the Hellcat is not for you and you should consider a TESLA instead. Just sayin'!

The sound profile is my favorite thing about this car. Never gets old. Puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. I've had mine for 3 months now.
