It was a nice day in Central ohio and I took the hellcat out for an extended drive..fun for sure, but this thing seemed like a loaded gun with a hairpin trigger. You have to be reasonable with the throttle to avoid spin and traffic tickets. It is real hard to go 35 in a 35 zone..just a little tap on the gas and you are at 50... seems alot different from my 09 srt or even my GT500. .still..got to love it

I usually drive around in second-third gear in the 30-35 mph zones.. throttle response is unreal.

I am glad that the weather is allowing you to have some fun! And yes, I agree, it IS difficult to do 35 in a HC!

I am amazed at how much you can lug the engine. It has so much power low that you can putz around with no problem.

So I'm used to manuals that stall the engine a bit when you don't apply enough throttle as you get moving from a stop. With the Hellcat and the massive torque, is it even possible to stall the engine and drag down the rpms the same way? That's assuming you don't have the e-brake on!

One of those lucky Road & Track drivers tried it and was able to drive off in a M6 from a dead stop in 6th gear with no problem.

Don't think it makes 650 lb ft at 1000 RPM. ;)

Does it take 650 lb-ft of torque @1000 rpms to not stall the engine out if you don't apply enough gas from a stop?

I'm stuck in VON hell and I ordered the M6. I'm just sitting around dreaming up random things to talk about.

It sounds like this car gets moving the same as my manual Honda civic gets moving (it needs a little gas or you have to let out the clutch very slowly with no gas). As much low end torque that this Hellcat has, you still have to give it a little gas to get moving (of course, too much and it'll spin the tires... I totally expect that part). That's the impression I'm getting from the answers given to my question.

What's M5 like when you're do 45mph and nail it? I've been trying to get a answer to that. But I will find out soon the car was in the rail yard in Markham IL. on 3/16

M6 will blow the tires off when in 2nd gear @ 40 or so mph with a half throttle punch.. at least mine does in 50* weather and stock tires.. Drag radials will be delivered Thursday..
