I posted a week or two ago about changing my oil and not noticing any grease around the drive shaft, but, I wasn't looking for any, at the time. I mentioned I would get it up and look again. I did that last night and it's as dry as it can be. No grease anywhere. The DSS shop had sent me a kit, with the plugs and grease, which I won't be needing. My shaft evidently doesn't have the extra holes. Great news for me, I'm leaving for West Palm after work.:D

It is not the Drive Shaft flange that has the extra holes. It is the forward connection from the gear box to the drive shaft. No grease, your are lucky. Did you put a bead of silicone on assembly?

My mistake. I changed it last year, if there was silicone there, I'm sure I used it.

I think I'm ok. I started taking motors apart in 1960(didn't put them back together then), and, I've never seen grease evaporate.:D

Guessing you have the A8 transmission?
Good for you with no leaks.
Hopefully you still have enough grease in your CV joint to never be a issue.
