Got some info today from whipple supercharger folks. Once they get the ECM codes for the cats they think 200 to 300 more horse is within reach!

Well maybe I should call my buddy at ZF and see how much an A8 can handle, I doubt not much more than stock. That also would test rear axle, half shafts and for sure the driveshaft and twist the frame if it planted.

Dang!! 200-300 more hp? Will stock parts be able to sustain that?

ZF site has the specs. Trans is very close to capacity.

I posted a link to the ZF spec sheet a while back on the forum

My guess is no. They may hold out for an extra 100 HP or so street driving but if the car is consistently logging track time - be prepared to spend and replace.

Is that kind of number with a stock supercharger?. Are they talking pulley and tune??

Whipple would be a replacement supercharger not just a pulley and tune.
Also will probably take a lot of other mods to keep fixing the weakest links until you have a dependable car on top of adding a Whipple.
Stronger driveshaft, transmission, axles, ect. required an upgrade when owners started pushing the SRT challengers on the racetrack.

I can't see how the drive shaft would take that. Look what the drive shaft did with 108 octane, drag radials and a small shot of nitrous :p

Yeah I would not mind upgrading the Drive Shaft to accommodate another 200-300HP assuming supercharger stock stays as-is and tuned up for extra boost.

Worst case I would assume engine block, rods, Pistons need to be reforged with stronger cast

I have a feeling that the hellcat driveline can't handle too much more tourqe. Especially the A8.

They were just talking an ECM upgrade. Not a supercharger change. Back in the day I remember as I built hot rods you just chased around all the weak parts. No doubt this would be the same.

I really don't think we will have drive train issues if we roll into it..

60' time seems to be key. You can't achieve that by rolling into it.
